Blown Fork Seals......3 sets in 40,000 klms

When one blows - do you change both? - just asking. If not the stress of running with one dead seal maybe to much for the other - weakening it. Very odd though. What sort of environment do you ride in? - dusty, sandy, wet, croc' infested. I wonder if something like a crud gaiter would help? http://www.proline-sports.co.uk/acatalog/fork_protection.htm

Thx for the comments Barbagris. I normally change both sides when 1 goes with the exception of the last time.....coz a certain Triumph dealer (interstate during the 2012 Salvo) only had 1 seal, and it is the one he didn't replace that has gone now! As for the environment......99% tar....but not always a great surface here in Oz.

Cant say I look of those.
Me neither tbh. I run old fashioned gaiters on my Guzzi - have done for years. Not sure where I'll find a set to fit the R3 though.

Everything (by this I mean bikes&cars - not just the forks) here seems to get covered in an ultrafine black powder. And it feels sticky and abrasive. Sort of like tar coated dust.

So I'll be having a bit of a look about.
