Whats the general opinion of the best front tyre for the trike?

Are car tyres readily available in 17 inch to suit Triumph rim?

After doing a quick search the only car tires I could find in that size are tires classified as temporary/spare tires.
Guess I spoke too soon. Sorry.
It's just with the added weight of the trike I thought it would be good to have a larger (flatter) front footprint for braking.

When I have the fork conversion done, I did think of changing the front wheel to a car type 15 inch but Paul Engineer reckons it was easier to stick to the Triumph hub.

Since a trike doesn't have to lean at all I'd go with a car tire for footprint and mileage.
I personally would stick with a bike tyre as you have IRS so you can lean a little. if you had a rigid back end then car tyre without doubt.

Having spoken to Paul again he suggests getting one of the older cross ply tyres such as Avon SM will investigate
