Ive been away on tour, very short notice and forgot to disconnect/drain etc my Rocket. 6 months idle it now wont start, charged the batt which is fine, and refilled the tank, lights all come on, starter clicks but no engine action.

Any help Rocketeers for a mechanical mong like me??

Else its a pick up and expensive trip to the dealers!

I'm not a mechanical genius, but try to remove the battery terminals, clean them, replace and tighten. Sometimes when it clicks, the terminals are corroded a little or are not tight enough.

Native One

Right on Native One. The terminals on mine looked OK when connected. However, I pulled them off and there was significant corrosion underneath. A quick scrub and all was well.

cheers

Ok will give it a try, all the lights work though, headlights too, the needle goes around and back as usual?? Will give the terminals a clean tough!

Do you know someone with a booster pack that can come and give it a jump start, if not, you can jump it from a car battery, better if you can do it with a car battery thats not on a car, so you have no chance of doing any damage.
Chances are your battery is fcuked after sitting there for all that time.
If the starter is just clicking, it either the battery or the starter, and i would put money on the battery.

Oh, and if you've been over there, cheers mate

cheers,

I have jumped it from my other bikes battery which is brand new, all lights are very bright leds on the dial go on and then off as usual, but a vague clicking sound is all thats heard!! Wierd, will start agai tomorrow and see if a new days brings better luck!!Cheers for the input though!

I did same, my batterry was recharged after 12 months non use, all seemed OK, guess what, I,d forgotten you had to pull in the clutch!!!!
Guess its solenoid otherwise! Give it a tap! PS Actually don't know where it is though!
Cheers Dumber Lonesome rider! (The solenoid that is, think the clutch is on the handlebar!)

Solenoid is under the right cover.
Had the same problem when I had the headlights fuse removed for mx.
Since your light is working it should be something different...
The clicking sound was there as well...
