AYFKM Tune ECU?

Ok, I don't like to rant or whine and I'm not a complete computer idiot but I have been trying to get Tune ECU to work for 6 weeks now?

I think I have read every possible thread on the internet and both Triumph websites. I've bought 2 different cables including the "real" one from Lonelec. I bought a new PC with windows 10 from Best Buy to dedicate to Just this Bike since I am an Apple user otherwise. None of that worked so I returned the laptop and purchased Parallels and Windows 10 for my MacBookPro laptop.

Today I finally got the Lonelec cable to connect with the ECU and was able to see Diagnostics etc. and various things so I was pretty excited. Verified 14.1 volts and looking good?

Started to read the map on the bike and green progress bar started filling up ( at a shockingly slow pace ) 20 minutes to get to 51% where it stalled and lost the connection, ^&^&*&(*$##@@!

I followed the instructions and answered the little box and started rereading the map again. This time 19%.

I did this for maybe 2 hours and it never got past 51%. Plenty of electricity 14v and never moved the cables or setup.

At this point I can't imagine ever risking downloading anything to the bikes ECU with this system?

Any ideas?

20 minutes isn't unusual for reading. I have seen it recommended that when reading from the ECU, remove the headlight fuse. And keep the battery on a fully charged car battery or battery tender.

Thanks, I have read all the warnings and have it jumped to a brand new fully charged car battery and a battery charger, so I'm pretty sure it's not a power issue. I'm starting to think I have another bad cable? I don't think it's the driver because I am able to connect,get the green box and look at the settings and see that it's got the 20352 map, I just can't get it to finish reading it so I can save it and have a look at it.

Try the headlight fuse. It's a dumb cable. It doesn't know what's going through it. If the drivers and TuneECU program allow for communication, it should work. How about the diagnostics and test windows when the bike is on?

I pulled the fuse before I started as per all the warnings and yes I can start the bike and see all the other stuff work, i.e. Tachometer, MAP, TPS, temperature etc. It just won't complete a read of the map before it throws up a dialog box that says it lost the connection, check your cable connection. So I answer "OK" and turn ignition off, then on, and it starts to read again and then fails. Never got past 51%?

That's f'd. Did you try the cable from Amazon? I've used it on Windows XP and 7. I'm dubious about 8 and 10. Did you use the driver recommended on the TuneECU web site? The right bit (32 or 64) match? When you attach the cable, it should pop up in the device manager under ports (com) and under the usb controller. Check the properties of those drivers to make sure they are the ftdi version you actually installed.

Yes, thanks. I have the proper Lonelec cable, latest driver from the FTDI site matching the recommendation for 64 bit windows 10. I Understand how to verify Com port settings. loaded and uninstalled everything twice, including the tune ECU program. I just sent an email to Alain Fontaine in hopes of getting this working. If I don't hear back from him then I'll just forget it and buy a PCV+AT. It has been incredibly time consuming to no end so far, but at least I have an awesome bike to ride and Spring is almost her in Virginia! Thanks for the ideas

A lot of peeps are using android and having good luck with getting it done. You have to buy the android app. I would try this first

ya I see that now and wish I had gone that route, Parallels + Windows 10 was a little over $200. DOH, I could have bought an android tablet for that.

YAAAAAY! I finally got TuneECU to work and was able to get the map off my 2013 R3R! And now I must humbly admit my mistake in hopes that it saves some one else the headache and frustration.
I am using the Parallels emulator on a MacBookPro running Windows 10 and what I didn't realize was that the Mac power save settings were putting the cpu to sleep in the middle of reading the map, hence I could never get past 51% before it would throw up the error dialog box.
Many many hours over something that stupid.

Thanks everyone for the support, Skydog1000 even offered to send me an old android to try.

Can't wait to try a new tune!
