Rode the bike home tonight as it is housed a few miles away. It's been there since I took her back last weekend. Rode home fine.

Put it in neutral and commence to backing it in to its space and the danged ignition cuts of again. Not while I was riding, just at home.

I cut the forks to the left and powers back up. Start, turn bars to center, power outage. Repeated this several times and did it the same place everytime.

Loose pin, melted out? Loose plug? Help. It is dark so I didn't investigate further.

I've had more than a couple of experiences with other riding groups, but I remember a couple very well.
I was riding my Ninja ZX-12R w/ my wife on back. We were leaving a gas station where there was a group of Harley's hanging out shooting the breeze. They all watched as we left the gas station. My wife was watching them and not paying attention. I came to a stop before pulling out and as I came to a stop I felt her helmet smash into the back of mine. I looked over and all the Harley guys seemed to get a laugh out of that. Glad I could amuse them I guess.
Another time I was on my Ninja again on an 8 hour ride home from visiting my folks. I rode over 7 of those hours in a solid down pour of rain. I got stranded at a gas station after filling up, the bike would not turn over. I tried bump starting it several times and nothing. Finally I gave up and just decided to see if the bike needed to dry out a little bit. While I was waiting a Harley rider asked if he could take a look to see what was wrong. He found that I had blown a fuse. He went back to his house and got a hex wrench because stupid me didn't carry tools at the time. He went into the gas station and bought some fuses, replaced the fuse, gave me the extra fuses as a gift and the hex tool as a gift and wished me safe travels. I hope to never forget his generosity. That tool and those fuses came in very handy on the way home as I replaced the fuse several more times.

Old School

Their old school Mexican. Some new. Does anyone rember what tapping on your helmet or head means while riding? My starter kept clicking right after washing. My buddy said blow out the starter switch. I did and it quit. He also said to make sure I rinse the switches after washing. The soap corrodes.

Sorry dude, but that does sound like an ignition switch. The movement rearranges the wires just enough to loose contact inside the switch where the solder joints are.
I went round and round with her over this... she left me on the highway, wouldn't start at the bar, left me scratching my head at 3am after working 16hrs, until I finally gave up and let the dealer handle it ... ignition switch, replaced in a day.

xhdskip:
Are you sure about that "LEO ahead"?

We thought it meant "the Nazgul are abroad."

For those who know (about ignition switches), is there a way to simply repair the malfunctioning switch or must it be replaced?

We trudge on.

I will be doing the wireless/remote start switch mod and adding the Eager Beaver light relays cause I CAN NOT STAND BREAKING DOWN IN FRONT OF A V TWIN owner. Ain't going to ride the blankety balnk Rocket till it's done. THANK YOU TRIUMPH, for installing cheap components on my beautiful bike and embarrassing me to no end and making Ms. W extremely uncomfortable. I write this as I was told by corporate Triumph from Atlanta that they moniter these forums. $320 for a switch and keys on a $16,000 bike. Come on y'all. I just bought four of the heat shield allen screws from my dealer at about $3 bucks each. I asked the dealer where the flat washer and lock washers were. They looked at me with an incredulous look and said, "You needed those too?". I said nope, the washers were actually just laying vetically held there by FM waiting for a new bolt while I was riding, duh huh.

I would like to have a few minutes with the stiffs in atlanta to discuss the "product".
