Avon Cobra treadwear warranty - 15,000 mi / 2 yrs

Every two years?! I'm going through 2 rears a year!

I work 270 hours a month sometimes, my riding time is compressed to short jaunts and a long one or two a year. I don't do rip roaring starts and I don't slide into stops. 2 years is about 5 to 7000 miles, and I reckon after that I want new tires.

Nice map but there are more people living in the map area then in the hole state of Oklahoma. It is all about trade offs. I will take are empty open straight highways here in Oklahoma any day. Grew up in California and have not been back in over 30 years. My idea of a traffic jam now is a cow blocking the road.:eek::eek::D:D:D:D

Traffic jams? What traffic jams? Lanesplitting is legal and the driving public knows and generally respects it. SoCal isn't just Hollywood and traffic. You can cruise at 100+ for hours on end out to Vegas or Phoenix if that's your thing. Mountains to deserts to alpine forests to canyons to coastal cruising, from glitz and glam to farm towns to Tijuana, it's all here and all good.

Come back for a visit and I'll take you on a few rides!

My mechanic and I were literally discussing this last week. I was trying to get a sense of whether or not they will honor the warranty.

The first time someone tries to claim the warranty I would be interested in hearing what happened.

I live in another state and have ridden in both California and Oklahoma.
I would always choose the roads of California, in spite of the peeps quantity, over those of straight, flat Oklahoma!
now the people of Oklahoma are far superior to those of California in both friendliness and politics!

Yeah, there is a lot of fine print associated with that warranty; however, I'm running through rear tires at about 5,000-6,000 miles / 5-6 months each, so I intend to see what I can get out of Avon. As I just put this one on two months ago, I'll report back at the end of this year. :)
I just put a new set on my Roadster....about 2 months ago. One of the conditions for warranty is that you must "register" them with Avon within 10 days of purchase. So basically, I'm screwed this time.

I saw that... It's been a few months since I bought my tires. I registered anyway and uploaded my proofs of purchase, and didn't have any problems completing the registration. We'll see what they say come 6 months and 5,000 miles.

The way I was interpreting the Canadian one, was they wouldn't replace the tire, but give you money off depending on how mush premature wear occurred, so basically a credit on the next set.

If the Tire wears to the tread wear indicators in less than the miles warranted, a pro-rated adjustment will be made according to actual mileage delivered. Your adjustment credit will be awarded on a gift card that can be used on purchases where credit cards are accepted. A cash refund will not be extended in lieu of the above.(this is what I read)

Most tire warranties that I ever saw have been pro rata...you get credit for the unused tread toward new tire. So if Avon is doing that, it's nothing at all new.

In nine months I have gone through two rear tires. The Avon Cobra is being replaced by a BF Goodrich G Force comp 2 A/S. The Avon wore even vice the stock tire but still did not last much pass 8,000 miles. Never ran a car tire on any bike I have owned. Here in Oklahoma we do not have a lot of twisty turning roads, so it should work out. ;););)
YES not many twisty roads youll be OK just dont turn any corners
