I didn't want to cut it either, but after I finished install.. it looks AMAZING! Love the way it looks and it works well. It was easy to cut the hole a little bigger. But I understand how you feel
I was pretty nervous making the hole bigger to fit this 12v external weatherproof plug, but once I managed to get it through it did fit perfectly... it was a little bit of a tight fit when I put the plastic piece back on the bike but it works, and works well! Just looking forward to getting my FZ1 Fuseblock to make sure that plug is only powered when the bike is powered on. I also have a 12v plug installed on the handlebars and another 2 USB Port on the other side of the handlebars. Yeah I know, why so many plugs? The answer.. because Im freaking bored and and warm weather is maybe 3-4 months away
After trawling the internet for uk based suppliers I've finally found one. Just ordered the socket which in Europe is called a DIN 12v socket or in America a powerlet. This company is cheaper than triumph and the connector looks as though it should fit directly into the loom connector behind the mounting panel. I'll keep you posted. Here's the link http://www.windingroads.co.uk/shop/product.php/398/12v-din-powerlet-socket
I'm assuming that the power on the connector is permanently 'live' and not through the ignition, I've not checked that yet but I guess it is for battery charging purposes.
For uk readers Halfords.com have something similar but the spade connectors are in a different configuration to the connector behind the last panel on the rocket3roadster. I think it's around 10gbp and includes a a matching plug. If you don't mind doing a bit of extra wiring this could be a cheaper option without cutting a bigger hole in the panel.
That's exactly what I have, except I cut a piece of black gaffer tape to shape to cover the 12v sticker. Completely weather proof and a very handy location within reach of my pocket or saddle bag. Can use a twin USB plug if I need to.
