I started getting the dreaded high idle on my 2004 Standard Rocket 3 and after checking the crank sensor, doing a 12 min tune, reloading another tune and the same tune into my ecu via TuneECU I finally bit the bullet, unscrewed my TPS screw and looked at it, and it is black insides and very worn.....So I have a real feeling it is this sucker.

Went into my local Triumph dealer. These guys in Australia are all about bad service and big money, thats why I do everything to my bike myself, along with everyone else here in Townsville Nth Qld.

I walked in with the part number T1245113 and amazed the guy at the counter that i knew what i was ordering. Then he equally amazed me with a $227 bill. How the hell is that possible when i could order this part from either America for half the price, or England for a little more than America!!

Australia has apparently the best AAA rated economy, yet we screw our countrymen on goods and services!! Does this price seem right?

$300 AUD is about right .. and they wonder (and complain) when we buy our parts from overseas. And it's actually quicker than relying on the local Dealer .. cheaper and quicker

I have the same issue when I order stuff for my RS Sprint. Although I would love to support local Australian business, you are quite right in stating that local Triumph dealers are not interested in good service nor reasonable pricing. I have had more than one discussion with them about this. I now order all my stuff directly from England or America:)

NCY (North County Yamaha) have looked after my needs and quite few others here Ask for Andy in Spares and ask him to look after you with the shipping as he does for Hans and others I have put onto him phone # 0011 1 760 432 9501 the calls are very reasonable cost wise on the home, they are about 17 hours behind us (NSW) daylight saving time

The only reason i paid that ridiculous amount of money was because I just didnt want to wait for the part. Yet, he said it could be, over night to 3 days................I will let you know at the end of next week when i get it when I could have had it express posted from America for less.

**** our countries import taxes and dumb prices for ****!!!

HI
you might try disconnecting it . when i think that a map sensor might be bad i disconnect it (elect) then it runs bad for a minute and the comp subsitutes a figure and usually runs better.
never tried it on tps but it might work till you get new part shipped in.

Thanks for the contact Hanso, I have spoken and e-mailed Andy and he is more than happy to help out.
I am landing a TPS for $155 AUD including freight :)

Revs

This high idle that is talked about .my bike revs up to 2000rpm,s for about 15 seconds every time I start it for the first time every day ,for the rest of the day it's fine . Is this pretty normal

perfectly normal. The high idle issue shows up when you are riding. It could be like the throttle hangs up when you pull to a stop or worse, when you roll off the gas approaching a bend and the bike doesn't slow down!
