Are any Capts. interested in starting a MOTW for the R3

IMHO, bolt on modifications are fine as long as they are unique or rare, and maybe something no one else has thought of doing with something that everyones already got. Bolt ons are fine, but the truly inspired mods are great. Just my opinion on the matter.

"Bolt ons" can be a good mod of the week. IMHO it wouldn't have to be the most spectacular or eye-catching mod to win. A simple mod, which is very useful, could easily get my vote.

Such a thing might be replacing the stock RIII mirrors with a Yamaha mirrors as they already fit. It is cheap, simple, unspectacular, and maybe too "metric" for some, but they are far better than the originals. This may also inspire others to new things. (In the interests of full disclosure, I have already done this.)

Cheap and easy can be good too.

Yes, but your $4.00 worth of material and work you did on the passenger peg relocation kit was a nice bit of work! :)

Everybody is getting it here!!! This is great. It's not just a bolt-on mod specifically made for a Rocket3, any mod that fits on a R3 can win. Everybody gets a chance to vote on it, the mod with the most votes for the week wins! 8) Plain and simple. We don't have to like every modification we see and people shouldn't feel bad if their mod doesn't get enough votes to win. It's the process that's cool and everybody gets feedback on their and others' mods, kinda like some of the discussion we are having now.

Okay... here's my latest mod. A blue LED light kit.
Kept it subtle.... The wife just rolls her eyes and my riding buddy started singing Lowrider when he saw it. :)

Pics are crap but you get the idea...

Kroth: I like those lights. They look cool when your parked and stuff. Been thinking about it myself (red of course, the faster color-just kidding)
While I priced the lights themselves, not too costly, but the cost to install ungodly IMO, of course, I'm still paying off my R3.....Did you do it yourself? We go to a local car show every Saturday at the Pavillions. The show goes pretty much all day, people bring their fancy cars from 10am-7pm,,,, then there is a specific lane for bikes, and the place fills up with bikes from about 7-9pm.... thats where you show off your ride and with all those bikes there, my r3 gets lost in the crowd, I definitely want those lights....

I got this particular light kit off eBay for less than $30.00
Installation was a snap. The hardest thing to do is to unbolt the gas tank. Doesn't have to be taken off though so no messing with the connectors or hoses. The wire harness is already made, just drape it on and then secure the bulbs with the sticky cradles that came with it. WIred directly to the battery with a fuse and an on off switch. I mounted the switch to the small plastic bit directly in front of and attasched to the left side cover. Looks nice and clean that way. Took MAYBE an hour to get it done.

I dig it!

Congrats to krothnbrg for winning MOTW week ending 8/31 for his blue LED light kit. Good looking setup!!!!

Every Monday I will post a thread introducing the MOTW contest for that week right here on the "Where To" Goldmine.
Then list your Mod of the Week with a picture (on the same thread) and those that don't have a MOTW to enter for that week can vote for their favorite mod that they see here. On every Saturday I will make another post highlighting the winner of MOTW of the week.

Sorry I haven't been keeping up on this, I've been busy and didn't know if everyone was interested. So what the hell, let's try it and see what happens.
