Last evening the wifey and I went for leisurely little ride. Passed another couple on an electraglide at an intersection. They turned our way and followed us. The next road we came to had a red light and we stopped and then turned right. I had just short shifted into 2nd (see leisurely above). Next thing I hear is the Harley coming up behind us hell bent for election. I didn't even have time to downshift. He got about a half a length ahead of me just about the time my tach hit 3500 and then we rode away from him. The wife said she smiled at the driver as we went by, he didn't smile back. The bike musta had some pretty serious work done to it to do as well as it did. He spent some money, just not enough

So what happened next?
Based on experience with these types I'd bet he either turned off immediately to make it look like he was slowing down anyway not racing, or did a "ricer fly by" and then turned off before you could embarrass him again..

He stayed back. I didn't get a chance to observe his demeaner as I had to negotiate some traffic to turn into the bank we were on our way too.

Ya, ain't that fun. Had a run in like that while riding double with my 25 year old daughter. Pulled up to a beautiful H-D at a light,
left the light nice and easy then heard the H-D get it on so I just left him behind. All that chrome and engine modes he had didn't help.
All he could say at the next light was " Man that thing is fast!!" I just smiled and rode away.

I am glad your wife noticed the other guy not smiling. I have a couple H-D riding friends that cringe when I show up on my Rocket. And they too have lots of money tied up in performance upgrades and over priced chrome. HA HA HA HA . It makes me laugh.

I rode and owned Harley's before purchasing my Rocket. It is hard to admit it, but I used to think that nothing could equal a HD dresser. I didn't even know about Rockets. Once a person rides a Rocket, game up. Just can't match up a vibrating twin to a triple. Speed, power, size, weight and of course smooth ride. THAT is why Harley riders try to compete and almost never smile.

Most Harley riders don't have a clue about anything that doesn't say Harley Davidson on the tank. When they go out and drop $10K on a built engine, they see how much faster they are than a stock Harley, so they think they can take on anything...then they get embarrassed by someone on an R3, and then they realize they just spent $10K for a bike that's faster than a stock Harley and nothing else, and is now unreliable...these totally clueless people are always good for a laugh!
