Another High Idle thread - geezzz

If you want to check tps and stepper voltage, go to TuneBoy sensors tab and hit ISCV - info will scroll along and tell you what to do. You want the tps voltage at .60 and it to jump .12 to .72 for the stepper voltage (Triumph allow for a .02+/- tolerance)

There's a thread on this, but really it's VERY easy to do.... go into launch tuneboy.exe ( the bike dashboard icon, not the tune edit grid) click the sensors light & a table of numbers pops up.. TPS voltage is in 2nd column 2nd from the top. Reading should be 0.58-0.65 range, & Ideally about 0.6. Hit reset ISCV ( bottom left of screen,) & read & follow the instructions that ticker tape across the screen. It's really really easy. Just do what it tells you.:D

I am thinking you do need one why would Wayne give anything away for free if that were so we all would not need keys just the 400.00 smakers for the cable. I could be wrong though it sure would not be the first time.

Weeeell.... there is the fact that you can't actually TUNE it without the key..... Tdrag was asking if the key is needed for the sensor tests in tuneboy exe. not tuneedit... but I don't know, never tried it on an unkeyed bike. Shouldn't be hard to find out tho TD

Well I cleaned the hardware with WD-40 and am still getting the problem. Also noticed the other day that it is missing occassionally around 60-70 mph which is also followed by a high idle. I can pull the clutch, hit the kill switch and restart while rolling and the problem clears immediately only to come back 5-10 miles down the road.

Here's another thought, would a clogged fuel filter possibly cause this problem? A couple of years ago I didn't close the fuel cap all the way and the vent was not functioning. The bike started running rough, missing, etc and I recall that it also was doing the high idle thing. I pressed on the fuel cap and hear a loud hiss like air was being sucked into the tank. The bike ran fine after that. Do a fuel system problem sound like a plausible reason for a high idle? especially after killing the engine and restarting?

Maybe this is the technical excuse you need to get out of a ticket.
