I'm ready for more power. 2006 black engine stock except for cat delete. I don't want to use triple K&N so I think I'll either keep the stock air box (snokel remover years ago) or make my own dry pleated paper/gauze element ram air under the Bear Claw.

Thinking of these set ups.

1) TORs, Power Commander 3 or 5. Dyno tuned. DynoJet tuner wants $250 to tune it.
2) TORs, Tune ECU do it myself.

Looking for a dry alternative air filter system. Please tell me how your simular set ups worked out. Opinions and real data welcome.

I just took a look at the Power Commander site and it appears that they don't offer the PC V for R3s older than 2009. Does that sound right?

Yes that way they can get rid of all the PCIII's they have on the shelf. If you own a older Rocket 3 Not touring. Just order for the 2009 and tell them that is the year of your bike. It has the same ECU. 2004 to 2009 all have the same ECU except for the R3T which is different.

The biggest problem you will have to overcome is the filter as ther is not much room if you do not want to cut the bear claw. My advice is to work that out first it will take the longest. Jardines will give you more then TORS Carpenter's will give the most but they all especially the Carpenter's require bigger intake capabilities. If not then stick with the under the tank/or OEM and throw a set of Jardines on her. If money is tight then TORS with the standard filter or under the tank. I agree with a soft ware tuning aid I promote tune boy myself but it is not free. That and the PCV with Autotune as IDK can keep you up with each mod you do without going back to the dyno. when you finally have it all done if your tuner is good he can pull more then auto tune because he can see the changes and mess with the timing to produce the most power. if your not worried about the most power the the auto tune is a great item. Just remove it after you tune you rnew set up until you make another change then put it back in and tune it. This will save the O2 sensor from degrading over time.
