About to give up.

I was going out for a short run to see a few friends. Filled up the tank. Bike was doing a bit of backfiring, but running pretty good. I was in the right hand lane doing about 40 , then all of a sudden all power went out. The Bike stopped. Not even lights.
A couple of our local Outlaws stopped and gave me a hand pushing across the road top a safe place. Trailered it home. Battery ( new) , had 12Vs , checked the two 30 amp fuses all good.
Right now I do not want to touch it , Plus I have no idea where to start. I have spent a lot of time and money trying to get running and keep it running for trips. Right now I don't want to go past the next corner. My big fear is the ECU. If so I will part it out.

Have you checked for loose coil connections? Generally they don't cause such a sudden or complete loss such as you described. Electrical gremlins are a PITA and not my forte', so I'll leave this one to our in-house cognoscenti.

OK it is a 2006 Non Classic , right at 50K miles. Installed the Beaver headlight mod some timer ago. Have gone through two voltage regulators. Just installed a new Scorpion battery on the 7th.

I think ECU failures are extremely rare. If you follow the link that Turbo posted you will see a pice of the fuse box wired to bypass the ignition completely with a couple of wires. If you try that quick fix and she fires up you will be on your way.

Have a look under your 'claw side' side cover .. wire from the starter has a join in it that can get tugged apart when fitting a battery. Had mine replaced with a solid wire .. seemed to pull itself apart for no apparent reason. Stick at it .. be some pissy little thing ... no throwing tools around when you discover the 'little problem'

If everything electrical is out then I would suspect a bad battery cable, possibly a bad battery, but more likely a cable connection. Check the terminals at both ends of the +ve and -ve cables, they should be clean and TIGHT.

I decided to check the 30 amp fuse again . This time out of the box. sure enough it is fried. Replaced it , and now the headlight comes on , and the indicator lights come on cycle and then go out. Except the neutral light and a small red light on the speedo. The headlights work in both H&L . Horn ok. no turn signals.

Turn signals are on a different fuse. Check them all. Also, check that both legs of each fuse is fitting tightly into its spot. One fuse on my bike was loose on one of its legs and that caused intermittent problems. I applied a bit of solder to the leg to fatten it up a bit and no problems since.
