30years ago...

Fun and games at Bathurst, in my late teens and early 20's I saw and did some things I know I'll never see or do again.

I was there brother ,Easter at Bathurst The Drive Inn Theatre on con rod straight, the bike blow ups empty wine cask bladders with a bit of petrol in the fire ,we camped at Mc Phillimy park near the gates for 8 years straight
Bathurst streets full of Bikes, same clothes for 5 days, I really miss those days ,

Bull is that a TM400R? I once owned one what a mankiller!

Several guys had the Carabelas when I was racing my older Ossa in the Texas Pandhandle in the early '80s. And I saw several of them last time I was in Mexico as well.

Not too many made it up here to the northwest.
Fast little sucker, just never caught on.
Won a lot more races on this little 125 Suzy. This is way back when we extended our own swing arms and laid down the shocks for more travel. We had to rework an endure bike - small moto cross bikes came out a couple years later. Circa 1970-71 When the Elsinore came out in 73 I was toast and stayed in the larger classes.

Yessiree!
Usually 1st into the first corner then who the hell knows!?!?!?
Fast - not so good in the corners. Liked my 360 Pursang better overall.
Lucky for me I was a 5'11" 225 strapping lad and could muscle it around the MX track to some degree.
Great memories!!! I be liking this thread!
Post race days , , ,

But did you keep your tickets? Top photo was a glass flagon full off petrol with the cap on loose. All good fun untill someone gets incinerated. We always camped on top of the mountian, beside the caretakers stone house, some big radio antenna with 8 foot chain wire fence behind us and Ducati club on the other side.

Mate I was lucky to keep my boots or shirt , we drank heaps of Stones ginger wine at room(paddock) temperature I slept for a few minutes each night on the ground where ever in an old Army surplus great coat that was a riding coat, sleeping bag, bike cover, doona combined the photo must have been in the eighties as the bull wagon is an early eighties model,do you remember the Roaster coaster beef roll van with a recorded message playing over and over all day and till 12.0 at night we stole the speaker to shut it up , looking for some photos to post.

40 years ? Sh#t, uh 68 Bonnie chopped and raked with a 6 over springer front, multi colored "buds" in bongs and every manner of consumable magic mushrooms, peyote, and hallucinogens along with manufactured trippin stuff. Can I go back now ? Life was so freakin simple then. I was 18 and indestructable but it didn't stop me from trying. The girlfriend was a half cherokee princess who still looks like Rita Coolidge today(I regret leaving that one) and I was letting my freak flag fly. Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin, The Stones etc etc etc.

Josey, you got me with the princess... I know of one a few years ago...

More Bathurst, this Honda used to belong to a good mate who is the best bike mechanic I know. Never doe's anything to his bikes that doesn't make them go faster or handle better. Caretakers yard in background.
