Run premium fuel?

I've always used premium (91 R+M/2 in Arizona) and been happy with the performance over the past 7k miles. Just idly flipping through the manual though and I noticed it only calls for 87 knock index fuel. When I purchased, my service manager was adamant to use premium fuel. Does anybody run...

I use 95 octane over here. Apparently tested to discover 0 to 2% ethanol. The ped runs fine on it.

Must be a Triumph thing, my TT600 took 3 tries cold, always, without exception. Tried a couple different tunes, made no difference

You did not slow down to listen long enough......The ECM needs voltage to function.....so Triumph programed in a min. voltage during cranking to function....if momentarily the voltage dips below this number, you will lose the function of spark......lithium batteries sometimes depending on temperature need a little time to "wake up" along with older lead acid batteries....I'm not aware of anyone being able to access that part of the ECM programming..
