2024 GT had a short that would cause all lights to flicker. Dealer could not find the fault.
One month later bike would not start,
I removed the seat and burned my hand on the + pos terminal.
Fule pump cycles, gages light as normal. Battery reads 12.89 VDC.
First question did "Lucas" wire our bikes ?

I can hear something else cycling on the bike other than the f pump No fumes were blown or other burnt wires. This is leading me to the main starter lead as it is not fuzed and no burnt wires. your thoughts ?......
Starter shorted....?

Is the goast of Sir Lucas trying to convert the bike back to a + positive ground system sorry sorry just trying to lighten things up.
Any thoughts you have will be appreciated.

Joseph Lucas got a bum rap.
It was the wiring harnesses by the lowest bider that caused trouble.

My '74 Commando with 56,000 miles, original zener diode & bridge rectifier. Still chatges reliably. I've ridden it halfway across the US multiple times. Same on Triumph, BSA.

These female bullet connectors all cracked, hidden in the rubber, creating variable connections...

Update Started to troubleshoot the problem . Started at point of smoke release. + positive terminal. I pulled back the red boot and found the fault the leeds were loose but the lug was tight. Added a small washer and I am on the road again.

i dont get it, what was the fault again?

Somewhere in my old brain, I remember reading that our wires should be attached to the sides of the terminals, not the tops so the seat doesn’t press down on them. And that most dealerships were doing it wrong. Does that ring a bell with anyone?

yes
of coarse i read everything and remember about half

This American made Deka powersports battery has the terminals set back from the edge about 2mm. It kept the terminal from laying down flat, only partial contact. It overloaded the small area & arced.
The battery comes with small brass spacers for just such purposes. (The spacers would have precluded the problem).
The LATEST production Deka has the terminal extending to the edge of the battery (not pictured here)
