Don't mind it at all!! Better looking than the F6B by a mile..... wonder if they've gone to a four-valve head yet? If so, and Mr. Lush was to have a little play with one...............mmmmm.....
It's OK Jim, no one really "needs" 2300cc. I've tried that line of reasoning but it's not sustainable. Best to say that the only bike that ticks all the boxes is a Rocket and sadly that means you have to put up with 2300cc.
When i fell back in love with motorcycling the "Vintage" Valkyrie was my second choice after the RIII. It bothered me a bit though that they were no longer produced and that the fact that the Rocket looked like virtually no other motorcycle-including any other Triumph- made the Beast the logical choice for me. I do like the Valkyries' though-but like another poster on this thread if i could afford another bike it would be the Guzzi California-very sharp looking machine.
But on this Valkyrie reincarnation...they had me until my eyes foucused on that huge bulge below the tank and above the heads-it makes the bear claw nearly invisable! It protrudes from both sides hiding something...the air filter? the radiator? Both? It appears to be the air filter which on close inspection looks like the filter on my furnace. There has been a Rune for sale on craigslist here in Anchorage for quite some time...he is having a tough time selling it. -Doug
I was looking seriously at the Valk before I was smitten with the rocket. Much like the rocket, I'm sure the looks of the original Valkyrie kinda grow on ya. This new one ? Looks like a big plastic toy. Part of it may be the color. As far as being a "badassed" power cruiser, there is NOTHING menacing looking about it. For once I would love to see Honda release a motorcycle that would whip the $hit out of everything in it's class. There was a lot of hype about the CBX 6 cylinder. That didn't pan out. Then the Blackbird (sorry Lupe ) that was supposed to whip the Kaw ZX and the Hayabusa. Big let down there as well. That is one of the reasons I love my old Kaw 500. In 1969 Kawasaki told everyone to eat this ! Along with a lot of blue smoke
Having had two Gold Wings and after having seen the new Honda F6B...this appears to be the same power plant as the Gold Wing, a little more stripped down from the F6B and kind of "runish" looking. As Mexican said I wouldn't mind taking it for a spin but don't think I would stay "enthused" with the appearance for very long.
Those two "things" on the side are the radiators (one each side) just like the Gold Wings and the F6B's.
