1/8mi drag race Touring vs the GT

I can't wait for the 1/4 drags to see some hot numbers. Kevin, what is the HP and TQ on this bike ?
Not sure on numbers. Just a tune i had for stock ram air with headers and tailpipe konrad did a long time ago. Id assume its around 150 160 sq atleast. It moves pretty good on seat dyno

Changes for this weekends races. Dropped front end, put on my 130/70zr/16 and lowered the bike 20mm by pushing fork tubes up. The front suspension is definitely loaded now, leaving only 2in of travel left in forks, i can still strap the front if needed, front is .75in lower now then the rear, hoping to improve 60’ and launch with this adjustment. Ive been running stock height and a tall 130/90/16 that made the front wanna pop up and it was hard to battle that. Front is down 3in over stock now, it should make front end harder for this stock engine to lift. i have set rear shock sag to .75in and softened my rebound settings for slow speed and fast speed to very slow, and shock is set to shortest height. Unladeden shock is 12.58 eye to eye. Tire pressure on rear seems to be best on these prepped tracks set now to 26psi feels best, no spin at launch but a little spin at top of 1st and 2nd. Going with K&N extremes and carpenter trumpet, hoping for better performance than open throttle bodies and headers. Midrange felt down last week running open headers and tbs but top end it was singing. Shift light is on for this weekend so hopefully that helps. Installed race shifter. I think the bike will run 125mph @ the 1/4mi track and high speed stability shouldn’t be an issue with this current settup. Lowering my 230# in the corbin race seat may be a good change. Mama said, son, You gotta look fast to go fast😎

I'm in favor of front end being lower but would think lower resistance in front shocks to allowing front to raise to maximum lift before wheelieing would make for best loading of rear tire. and then allowing front to settle down lower would reduce wind resistance effect. Have a productive weekend, keep learning.

Thanks Gerald, i appreciate it. Im really not sure of these changes but im as low as i can ( without strapping or getting fork end handles ) go so only be adjusting one direction if its bad 😂, i will find out real fast cause im gonna send it first go to find out, i made it through the wobble at ecta im just hoping that dont happen again. If it does i hope for same save😁🚀

It's the bags, I experimented quite a bit.
If you need to go faster I can tow you behind my bike.

Every pass is a learning experience, might keep a notebook to keep up with changes and thoughts, or a small recorder would be better and easier. This would allow you to review after things calm down, or the next day and won't have to think/remember the events and thoughts after you leave track.

Week 3 we lost one due to covid, jeremy 11 on the breakout, his wife and another crew member usually do the recording so no video proof as to my observations and notes. We cancelled friday night. Week 1 we ran 3 times, week 2 we ran 4 times and Saturday i ran 6 times, no seat, lowered 3.in and i was beat up sunday. Week 3 was the fastest quickest the bike has been, me lower to ground is night and day compared with seat, no pogoing or wheelies, felt great, not shaky steering but the bike was moving in lane going down the track, not strait as an arrow, so im gonna work on that with rear changes and butt securement in frame. Still horrible, inconsistent, the bike is much more capable than me, im workin on it. There were a few bloobers Saturday night, on one run somewhere after 330’ and shift into 3rd and lost left bar grip, run aborted, a 2nd gear burnout is the way to go, and a second gear launch worked pretty good, 2.0 60’ , im gonna try it again this Saturday at bowling green 1/4mi. Test an tune hoping for many pulls. Week 1, 2 and 3 tickets. When youre working on everything all at once, your GO, your 60’ making a clean shift , staying strait, and trying to build speed, the changes i made last week out going in right direction for drag strip speed as times and 1/8mi speed is going in the right direction from the tickets and race box data. A long way to go as i said to start, i am the weak link.
