2025 Rocket 3 GT
2005.jpg

Just picked up a leftover 2025 Rocket 3GT, trading in my old Scrambler 1200XE. I've been eyeballing Rockets for as long as they've existed (because, well, Rockets) but always made more rational, reasonable bike choices. I'd stopped in at a local dealership to get a oil filter for my wife's Speed 400, and had the sales guy push a keyfob into my hands, tell me to give the bike a test ride - it was the demo model and 5k off. I wasn't about to turn down a Rocket 3 test ride, but wasn't planning on buying...

Until I pulled out and hit the throttle. Sweet merciful Jesus. My poor Scrambler didn't have a chance. As it was, I never took it off road (I've also got an adventure kitted Husky 701e) so it was just a daily road ride, and... Yeah. It was a great bike, but I wasn't even out of first and I knew I was trading it in.

Thought I'd hate the forward controls on the GT, and had initially planned to swap to mids immediately, but... I dunno. I'm 6'4", and my calves are nearly vertical as it is and I adapted to them WAY faster than I ever have on other bikes.

It's a silly bike. A ridiculous bike. And I love it.

Another convert! Congrats.

The forward controls really aren’t “forward” if you’re taller than… 5ft? The gt controls could be marketed better as “ like a relaxed pair of jeans.” Comfy; not folded up under you, not stretched out chopper.

Yeah that's a good way to put it. They're forward, yes, but it's super relaxed not kicked out. The only problem I've had so far with them was due to my being used to having the balls of my feet on the pegs I'm dragging my heels on the road through every corner... Which if I'm being honest is kind of a laugh anyways.

Greetings from sunny North Texas. I moved my controls back and have been very happy with the position. One note, the heat shields are not great at keeping your right thigh uncooked at stops, I learned to move my right leg back and it's all good.
Yeah, I've noticed that a bit too. Ironically it kind of just feels like home, as I'm coming from a Scrambler 1200XE.

Something I tried was having the headers Cerakoted to knock some of that heat down and it has a little bit. Adding the carbon fiber heat shields also dropped it a few degrees.
