So being an idiot I tried prying the oil seal out with a pick not realizing that I could just pull out the bearing sleeve first and left some scratches on the inside surface as shown below. I'll look at it again next time I change my tire and hopefully it won't cause a $800 problem.

Reckon you'll be ok with those marks, how did the seal fare? were you able to reuse it? or did you have a new one on hand? If ya had a new one, do you recall the part number?

The inside snap ring with the two holes (only see one in the pic) looks damaged a few more pictures at different angles might shed some light if anything is damaged.

I spent some time the first time trying to figure that out too. Doesn't make sense until you stumble upon the combination to the puzzle and realize how easy it is to actually remove. Hope no damage is done, but feeling pretty sure that you'll be OK.
I pushed the new seal all the way in past the scratches, the existing wasn't, and we'll see if it stays there or migrates outward. If it winds up on top of those marks I might get some minor grease seepage at worst but since this will be a regular thing when changing tires from now on I don't expect much of an issue. There is actually room for 2 seals back to back so that might be a possibility and the decorative cover would then definitely keep things from moving outward. This way the inner seal would remain on clean smooth metal and the second one would sit on top of those scratches. I even considered smearing a small amount of goop on there to seal those scratches. I received my potential replacement studs for the bevel box so when I do the splines I won't get stuck without my bike.
