DAT DIFFERENT!;):cool::D

@Joesmoe

Option 1) - Pants that don't melt. Ever since I started wearing Resurgence Pants I have stopped worrying - And they are fine in summer. Leather does not melt either.
Option 2) - Much bigger heat shields - done.
Option 3) - Riding Gaiters from the equine world - I tried this - works well on thinner garb - I know quite a few guys do this. Make sure they are REAL leather!.
Option 4) - Long Leg boots. iirc Gasolina does a pair in fully vented spec. too. - It's called the Typhoon - I checked.

Or ----- Get some Fibreglass heat shield material and ask the Mrs to sew some to the inside right leg. I did this to a pair of Cordura/Nylon pants and it works perfectly - looks a bit odd, but so does 90% of all bike gear. Would have been better had it NOT been the silvered sort!.

You apparently haven't enjoyed the traffic of large metropolitan areas.
My wife is from Los Angeles and the first 10 years in the states was riding amoung the heavily in fact probably the heaviest congested roads in America and it never even crossed my mind once to put my sidestand down ,i understand why paul but please do not make a habit of doing it--that second it takes to raise the stand could save your life and your pants:D

Paul- I’ll add to that friendly advice. A few years back at an intersection I waited for traffic coming from my right that passed by me to turn into my opposite lane. As a truck made a left turn it proceeded to cut in tighter and tighter. At first I thought, “you’re being a prick,” followed by “you’re going to hit my mirror,” followed by “I’m going to lose my leg if I don’t jump off the bike.” I did and watched several heads turn in the truck as it sped away. I snatched that R1200RT up and went looking. After going down every side street for several miles I found the truck and called the cops- they didn’t seem too concerned. Moral of the story is that I learned that you don’t only have to worry about rear enders when stopped, but a head on too. Next time (?) I will be ready and throttle over before its too late. In any event, had the bike been leaning over left on its side stand it would have been totaled (I dropped it over on the right to avoid getting hit) and I would have had a hard time getting myself off quickly on the right side. Keep her running, in gear, with the stand up. More options, more future rides....
