My God clean that bloody bike.Looks like you still have a wee bit left on the tyre as Flip said if you can see tread but not to the point you are using a magnifying glass.

you don't miss a thing do ya Flip. The bags are still off I took a couple photos for Hitch-Doc, They make a awsome hitch for the Rocket but had lousy photos on there site.
MS_kid yesir its a Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 225/50/R16 with 7500 mile on it and you can still see the mold mark in the centerline of the tire. My original Metz went 3600 miles before I moved to the dark side.

MS-Kid I can see of the wear indicators in the first photo you posted. It is in the grove above your hand. I replaced mine before I was to the indicators, it was getting pretty square.

MS Kid - I, having the experience of two Metzler, the second to be replaced next weekend with a Cooper Zeon 2XS [their description of the rounded profile and a tread wear of 280 (soft) led me to that one;], I'd say you're due right about now. I got 8k out of the first and it was down to the cords. This second now has 7.5k and I'm not waiting to see cords again. Mileage varies with rider habits. Flipper is a careful, slow, and methodical rider. And he's an old fart. Busa on the other hand doesn't let Spike out of the air-conditioned den to play (shrines don't get dirty if their not visited) so he's got years on the original tire; and he's an old fart. I've seen others reporting as little as 2.5k. I'm thinking Gunshots was one of those users.
The grooves you have terminating at the flat center appear to have no depth. If you recall the tread depth was uniform at first start-up. It's time to be extra conservative if you wish to squeeze another 2k out of it'. You might soften the air pressure 5-10 psi to widen the contract patch. With lower pressure you get center line cupping and more wear outboard.
I'll post a pic of the Zeon 2XS mounted as soon as possible. $111 delivered.
