Hi, just joined your site, looks great! Could you give me some advise as we're just about to purchase our 1st Rocket. Was gonna go for the tourer as liked the look with the hard panniers etc. But have heard the performance is alot less than the Classic. We don't have the same roads as you in the U.S, I understand the tourer is more popular there. We do want to do some touring, but really want the performance of the Rocket. I'd really value your kind thoughts from those who have both bikes, as I cannot find a dealer who has both bikes to test, can only find the Classic. Thanks for any help, in advance.

If you want the girlyman model, get the R3T. Seriously, either one has ample power unless you cruise the Auto Bahn and want to cruise at 100 mph +

The R3T can be re-tuned to Standard/Classic specs if you desire to have more performance. I'd bet that's cheaper than buying all of the accessories to get a Standard ready for touring.

Welcome to the site.
Whatever your choice is, at least you're getting a great bike.
Now Scott in Exile is under the delusion that red is faster.
I must apologize for him trying to mislead you.
EVEREYONE knows they use second hand parts on the red ones and only the first run, top notch parts go into the quality first run BLACK ones.
The red ones they usually sell at a deep discount because they are substandard..

Less performance than a Classic is still more performance than 99% of other bikes.
You'd be fine with either bike-get the one you like.

Can the standard R3 not cruise at 100 + mph?
'Cause the R3T has no problem at all... Ask anyone that was in Maggie Valley.
The only problem the R3T had cruising at 100+mph was that the mirrors vibrated loose.

Ohhh... And, Welcome to the site.

That's exactly what I was refering to...the problems with the mirrors on the R3T, it's been well documented. Just having a little fun. You know, red is faster than black, yada, yada.
