Yet another (but slightly different) Rivco riser/R3R question

Hi All,

I've looked through as many posts about installing a Rivco riser set on a Roadster (2013 for mine, but many others), however there are a few "easy" installation instruction items that I'm not too sure of, so I thought I would ask.

In most of the posts where folks have installed the risers, there are mentions about "relocating the front brake line and/or clutch cable". For some reason, I can't seem to wrap my head around just how this is done. Do they need to be disconnected, re-routed, then re-attached? Can they just be shifted about when the bars are disconnected (and the tank protected)? When re-routing, where exactly should they go to cause the least interference?

Best would be if some thoughtful soul posted a step-by-step photo instruction set. Given the popularity of this question, maybe it could even be a sticky?

I apologize in advance if this was covered in some post that I missed, but this one seems to have been asked all over the place!

I had to disconnect and relocate clutch, throttle and brake. Disconnected them at the bars, relocated, reconnected then bled the brakes.

Redirecting cables

Hey Rocketmouse, I have a touring Rocket and installed 3.5 risers.
It depends on how far your new risers pull the cables back. As you know you don't want them to bind. After removing the fairing, I removed the center nut. Jacked the front of the bike to take the pressure off of the forks. Removed both top nuts and the side allen head bolts to remove the top plate. Then put the cables between the gas tank and the fork plate and reattached everything.
Here are some pics so you can see how far my risers go back.
Hope this helps. :)

Pretty easy job.. clutch and throttle cables just need to be disconnected at handlebar end ( A Classic clutch cable is 3 inches longer than Standard , not sure about Roadsters) bit of juggling and you'll be fine re-routing the cables to the front of the top triple tree (fork yoke I think you guys call them) ;)

Did you have to disconnect and bleed the front brakes ?

Of course, the good fix for this would be to get a longer clutch cable and to replace the front brake lines with longer ones out of stainless braid and route them normally. On my R3T rerouting behind the triple tree even with caution eventually led to damage to the clutch cable casing (nothing that would affect function, but it still bothered me).
