OK - I don't know if this is widespread or not. :?

I do not know if it's entirely due to (for example) having things like Gi-Pro and psuedo alarm LED fitted. But there is 100% a battery drain on my R3 (2009 Standard).

About 2 weeks sat connected without a tender and it was very close to "insufficient for starting".

Disconnected - it held charge unattended for months. Kept on a tender - fine. The bike sits inside a carpeted garage - so I doubt it's a temperature thing.

One of those wee discoveries an enforced "riding leave of absence" has permitted. My bikes seldom sit more than 4 days without use which would hide the symptoms normally.

Time to inspect wiring and build a new accessories loom. Well I was bored anyway.

..and which battery went sour in your beast?..the home made mega CCA?..maybe a disconnect battery switch is in order..
No - The OEM battery. It's fine when not connected - so I'm suspecting a small current drain.

Been installing the PCV&AT this morning - took the opportunity to remove the Gi-Pro as I only use it as a gear indicator anyway. That had a permanent power supply - i.e drain.

If I decide to refit it - It'll go onto a switched supply as the permanent supply is to store settings - not needed if it's only a GI.

Wrist is fine Will. One or two of the fingers are not 100% - physio' should start soon. I'm on some weird med's now though - to allow the calcified nerves to rebuild and/or allow others to take the "load".
