Will my R3T leave a HD V-Rod Muscle in the dust?

Just the derestriction tune and the R3T will win.

The one, and only, HD that surprised me was a dude with a built 120" motor in a softtail of some sort, super size cam etc etc, he held me off through first gear because I was not expecting it to actually be fast so wasn't all in off the line.

Half way through second I had reeled him in and went by easily.

That was at 153hp/155lb-ft. What's a more fun race from a dig is 1000cc sportbikes, they're faster if ridden well, but it's a hell of a lot harder to launch a liter bike than an R3 properly.

Roll racing 600s/750s from 40-50ish on up is also quite fun. They'll struggle to make it a race and most of the time he R3 wins.

Post engine build I'll be on the hunt for some bigger bore bikes now, 14s, Busas, K1300s, S1000s etc. I'd love to find an H2 willing to play, though I doubt even the big carpenter kit is going to hold it off for long, I reckon he'll be shocked at how hard he's going to need work for it.

iirc - many years back there was a face-off video on a track with curves VROD/R3 standard - and the VROD won. As Art says - once teh R3 is fully sorted (suspension, engine) then it is a very different beast. But a stock R3T imo has no chance.
I remember watching that race. The Rocket rider was a ***** and never once touched down a peg feeler. It was a "feel good" comparison, one point for the VROD one point for the Rocket etc.

You remember it better than me. But I remember seeing it and being unsurprised. My R3 was a bit wooly in bends when new.

The last 7 years and I've seen how really minor changes to an R3 make it radically more manageable - but I don't know how much the tyre factor plays on the T's. Putting a 140/80 on the front of my standard made a huge difference for example. The 150/70 on now is good too. WAY better than the 150/80Metz. And an EMax adds more benefit. Add decent shocks/forks and 90% of the world be quicker on the road without engine mods - More torque/Power would then be icing on the cake.

Now if the test were V-ROD vs Millennium Falcon - then R3 wins.

The H2 is not that fast stock the average rider cant ride it well enough to beat anyone from a dead stop as your fighting to keep the front wheel on the road

LOTS of Rockets beating the V RODs and all the other modded HARLEYS around this area and no chance of any other bikes beating the big modded Carpenter Rockets

Never rode a Touring, so I'm not sure how the power feels compared to the Roadster. But there is a tune floating around here that will add 30 hp to a stock R3T.
I do know that when my R3R was bone stock, I ran against my nephew with his VRod Muscle that had intake/exhaust & PC. He was alone, and I was 2up. I took him from stops, and rollons easily. I even left him way behind on (what Louisiana calls) a twisty road.

Any rocket with even a set of tors/ air filters and a decent tune will crap on a stock V Rod. Rider skill equal that is. A Rod has no torque under 5000 and is harder to launch. Top gear roll-ons, the R3 will spank the Rod. The top speed mentioned above was with the speed limiter in place for the R3.

Yep... done that on my R3T and my speed limiter was "adjusted"... :) I'm still working on the full break-in mileage on the V-Rod, but yes, you really don't hit the sweet spot until you hit the higher RPM's.

Are you talking a drag race or top speed ? The R3 T is limited to only 185 km/h. So the V Rod will win in top speed only. In an on the road situation the R3T will walk away from the Rod at say 80km/h and 100km/h and 140km/h. They have 190nm torque stock and a Rod has about 90nm. Is the V Rod muscle stock? I bet it has pipes and air cleaner and Harley download, they leave the showroom like that mostly out here. If the R3T had the same treatment, it will beat it. I work on both machines and test them. A Bone stock V rod is not handlebar bender thats for sure, similar to the R3T. I do not know your grandma, I am sure she is a nice lady, but who ever rides a STOCK Vrod or R3T ?
BTW the weight difference is only 116lbs from a muscle to a R3T. The Muscle is a fair bit heavier than one thinks.

Again... these were comments from another site so I'm sure they meant beyond stock. My V-Rod is still stock while I break her in and my R3T has been appropriately tuned to my liking... :)
