Ok so the wilbers rear shocks are on - I'm delaying the fork spring fitting until I've had time to assess the impact on the ride of the rears.
Fitting was easy - although one was either very slightly longer than the other or the mount points were very slightly different from one side of the bike to the other as I put the right side on first and was then 1mm short on the required extension to mount the left side. So off came the right, left on first then the right and your uncles your monkeys brother.
So first ride on them today after fitting. Left home at 5am on the way to the airport in the dark on a country windy road.
The bike handles different for sure, definitely more stable and 'grounded' in the corners than previously and across bumps. The usual bumps ride a bit softer, some of the harsher bumps were the same kind of initial thud as the stock shocks but rode through smoother and less transmission of the thud through the spine - not a jarring I guess but you could still bloody feel it.
Were they worth the $$$$ not sure still evaluating, the greater surety in handling was noticeable straight away, maybe a little disappointed in the thumps still being felt but maybe that's the curse of a 400kg bike.
I still have my stock set of shocks on my 2005 Rocket...they are set on the 1 position.
The bike still will take the air out of you if you hit a ridge bump in the road and don't see it coming.
That sure is hard on an Ol'man for sure....That is why I would like to have a extra set of pegs like the Roadster so I could get the weight off my butt when hitting the bumps that I see
But they won't do a dang thing for the ones you don't see
did you get them from Greg? If you did then he'll support you no probs. give him a call and let him know your feedback. Most blokes that have fitted them to our bikes will all agree, the factory sets them up perfectly for track use or optimum handling but of course comfort is compromised.
Our aussie roads and the bumps we get are just to harsh for the set up. Don't be affraid to back them off as far as you can then dial more in if you feel its to soft. If you like it at its softest then its time to swap one of the springs out for a softer spring. you'll probably find changing 1 spring to a softer one will give you the flexibility of adjusting the 3 settings the shock offers to really give you the total benefit. You wont have a problem with the quality of shock or support from distributor. playing with setup is the part you have to play with. itll be worth it.
good man..hope ya like 'em after a bit..think ya will after ya get adjustments dialed in as mentioned..a pair of sticks would be better than the stockers.

Yep got them from Greg. I'm going to do A bit more riding I think first and see how they bed in before I hit him up. But your right he's been great so far!
Keep us updated on how they go after settling in .. think just about everyone is looking for the 'magic ' shockies that'll sort out the bumps and still keep her firmly planted on the road.

thats got to be the answer right there in that question i reckon. ive heard blokes be totally confused when people talk about suspension upgrades. they rave about the stock stuff.
