I had seen them in magazines when they first came out. Figured they were another 3 ton slow ass cruiser. Never even read a test on one. Then I seen one in person at the blessing of the bikes (big doin's here). It had a windshield and tank bag. It just looked like the real deal. I loved the gas cap and the inverted forks and the instruments. It reminded me of a giant, comfy ****** rocket. I test rode one at the dealer with tors and the secondaries removed. The first time I canned it and it lofted the front wheel and then hit the rev limiter before I could get it shifted and I was sold ! It's been a love affair ever since

I was working and studying my *ss off, paying my dues so to speak, and as the months turned into years I decided that for all this work I should maybe do something I had been wanting to do again, and that is ride! Hadn't had my own bike since 1984 and that was a 650, but had rode dirt and then street since I was a little kid. Looking around, I thought about the Vrod, and was leaning in that direction when I heard something about a new Triumph in development called the Rocket III. The more I learned the more I wanted it and eventually finally saved enough green the buy my '06. It had been 27 years since having my own bike and I had only ridden a couple of times in the meantime, the last on a Victory. I paid the dude his cash and rode of on my new-to-me Rocket and it was really easy to get used to and a far superior machine to the victory btw. I liked the idea of the biggest motor, a lot of power and torgue, the triple, the chrome pipes coming out of the black block, the big tire, and just being different rather than the same old same old we see everywhere.

Quite simply. Triumphs aren't common, rockets even less so, the the icing on the cake is how over the top it is

Simply because I wanted more power. And now that I have it, I want more power. I had to have the biggest, most ridiculous bike there is at a resonable cost of ownership.

Because it's a Triumph and I'd ridden one - and I guess because it's so different.

Man ..that daughter is going to be a great wife to some lucky bugger

and she rides the R3 very well. My youngest daughter had a Commodore SV6, Shelle was on the Rocket and I was in the SV6...couldn't catch her..........I was so proud of her lol !!!

Like most of us here..i'd done the sport bike thing and wanted something more
comfortable..went down the Harley road with a Fat Boy..liked the look of it but not
the performance. Changed the Harley for a Valkyrie which i liked..HD came out with the 96cu engine so i tried again..better performance but i couldn't stand the heat.
The Vrod Muscle appeared..(stupid name) so i tried that and i really don't know
how to sum this bike up..good engine..mad riding position..low radiator and it just
felt flimsy like it was going to break..it never did break but always felt like it would.
Towards the end of my sport bike days i tried a T595 and it was ok and i never gave
Triumph another thought.
Out on the Vrod and went past a Triumph dealer and there in the window was
Fat Brenda..i'd never seen a Rocket before and didn't know it existed
Next month she will be 3yrs old..i've never kept a bike this long and i have no intentions of selling her..sure she's quirky and she needs looking after..but i have
one of the most unique bikes on the planet and it doesn't matter where i go and how
far i ride..the chance's are i will not see another Rocket..i like that a lot

i bought mine mostly because my mates were buying cruisers, and i found a good one. So i thought i might as well get the biggest powerfulest mother i could find and the thing just looks beastly
