Why did this happen?

Video has been posted before. Some said type of Harley. Looking at video am convinced rear wheel bearing Disintegrated. Watch the rear bike tire and before bike goes into wobble. Been there done that at much slower speed. Did not dump bike but destroyed back rim. 20mm bearings suck. Lucky to get over 20,000 out of them. Most Harley riders are not aware of this problem. 2010 Harley's on have this problem.

Good to know. Thanks Sonny.

I bought a new rim and since I do not have ABS on the 2010 fatboy had the rim machined to accept old type bearings. Now I get about 30,000 to 40,000 before bearings have to be replaced. Check out some of the Harley forums. full of stories about premature failure. Can happen with no symptoms prior to failure.

THats strange I never had any bearings do that I did get a trade in a 250CC SUZUKI that came in with a bad bearing on the front wheel but the pick was 40 + years old I have seen a couple bikes that had spacers left out after tire changes but no real bearing failures

Harley switched to a 20 mm bearing back in 2010 with the introduction of ABS. Only two bearings on back wheel. When you make any aftermarket changes the bearings will fail premature with no warning signs at all. I was riding home from work and pulled out from a stop sign when mine failed. Only doing about 30 MPH and the bike went Ape#HIT. Very similar to video but much slower speed. Got the bike home via trailer and upon removing back tire the bearing on the belt side just fell apart. No prior signs of wheel bearing failure at all. Looked into this problem and found out I was not alone. Many others had experienced the same.

What bearings do Rockets have on the wheel? Anyone heard of that happening to a Rocket? That faceplant looked really painful!

@IMFASTTOO Art, you never learn. Your experience is not even a pimple on a gnat's toenail, and you feel compelled to comment when others have actually experienced it, and there is yet much verified evidence over the past seven years.
