What did you do to your Rocket today?

I get the polishing part, but then I have to do it every few months as the aluminum is being taken down to bare metal. the paint will seal it for year as long as I don't damage it.
I have found is you polish aluminum to a high gloss finish it seems to seal the metal and it keeps it’s sheen with very little cleaning needed other than a regular wash and polish like you would do for the chrome

Hmmm, i do not need to make a final decision just yet I suppose. I watched a video on how to remove the bearing without a press and it seems pretty easy, so powder coating is still an option; just need to save my dockets for it.
Painting seems cool to me as well, just more work.
Polishing the aluminum and coating it can be an option too I suppose. I do think it will require more attention then I normally pay to cleanliness...

That's a very real thing to realize. I probably spend a bit more time cleaning my bikes than most Rocket owners. Old Harley habits die hard.🤣

New wiring harness in, please let this be the end to my ground short issues.

Waiting to hear from the Triumph shop, took my bike in because the drive output was leaking oil. The called me wanting 2k to fix it. They stated there also was some metal in the leaking oil. reminded them I still have a warranty and now am waiting for approval. Week and 1/2 already, good thing I have an fjr to ride.

I got the sanding to a point I was satisfied and began masking and priming.

I went through a couple of these sanding rolls and finally destroyed the rubber holder.

Masking off the parts that are not exposed to the outside.

Cut a hole to insert the bamboo pole I will use to elevate the rim for painting.

I know I did not need to mask off the tire since it will come off when next, but I wanted the practice.

Make sure to press the tape down hard round the area you will cut away from.

Use a sharp knife to gentle cut away the tape.

The taped off area is where the disk goes.

I have the bamboo pole from a tiki torch holding the tire. It is not too sturdy though.

First coat of self-etching primer goes on.

The first coat is quite light.
