What did you do to your Rocket today?

Got real lucky today, almost ate it due to some dumb cager. Cruising on the freeway home doing about 70 in fast lane in light traffic, as I was passing a car on the lane to the right he decided to move into my lane. I swerved and ended up getting hit by him, I took out his mirror and side window with handle bar, managed to ride the wobbles and stay up. Real shock up but happy that I stayed up and did not wipe out at 70! Did not stop as he had the most damage, got home and only damage on bike is light scratches on end weight and front brake lever plus paint transfer from his mirror. I hate dumb asses and happy someone was looking over me today to keep me safe

Well your guardian angel was right on the spot

Greetings!!! Finish sanding and polishing the tires

Today I took the wheels off the tires to continue the process

Time to clean them thoroughly to remove all the dirt

Once you've cleaned up, you have to tape up the areas where you don't want the lacquer to fall

Already taped

A good pass with rags and degreaser ready to take to the workshop to be lacquered

In the process of cleaning

I'll clean up....

The swinging arm as good as new

The bearings of the swingarm, after 14 years the grease became a paste

Total cleanup!!!

And greased

Once the transmission was mounted, I took the opportunity to install the rear YSS shock absorbers

Next step!

And since I can't stop!!!

Now tomorrow a friend brings me the fork oil and I hope to ride them this afternoon

Why didn't you stop and exchange insurance info to have your bike fixed? I would have chased him down and got a license number at the least. Make the hammerhead pay for it.

I think I was just so shocked and also happy that I didn’t go down that all I wanted to do was get home. I also realized that only impact was at handlebars so damage could not be that bad.

That might have turned out different if your front wheel had locked, abs may have saved your bacon.

After going on a little highway ride noticed that I'm still bothered by the buffeting from this motorcycle, so I thought I'd try modifying the lower wind deflectors.... As in I made them a bit larger....wind buffeting on this bike was getting obnoxious at 75 miles an hour now it doesn't get obnoxious till 95 which is in my eyes way better cuz I love to travel at 75 and I honestly don't use 95 near as much as when I was young.
I do believe I'm about ready to head for West Virginia..... My taste buds are getting excited already.

Safe travels bud
