I went for a ride and my speedo was working and notice on my way home it was not?
my tec works but not my spedometer is there a fuze? or what else could be wrong?

speedo

xhdskip, why didn't I think of that :confused:If I would have knowen this sooner and had your address it would have been in the mail :D

cane,

What is a tec?

Yes, there is a fuse - but if goes out, a lot of things go out.

A couple of things come to mind.
1. Did you wash it before the ride? If so some water may have gotten into the connector under the tank and it just needs to dry out.
2. Do all the basic idiot lights cycle through on the speedo when you turn on the ignition. If not again check the connector under the tank.
3. Have you been working on the left side of engine by the speed sensor near the kickstand? You may have broken a wire or damage it.
4. Have you used your Tuneboy to get a diagnostic fault code?

WHAT IS THIS? I have run a check code routine but haven't seen an issue that I am aware of.

Cane Corso, what kind of head line is, "went for a ride today"? Why not, I won the lottery and everyone is invited to the party! It's the difference between a V-twin and a Three holer.

Living Legend H,
Shop manual pgs 11.26/.27 list fault codes of P0500 and p1500 speed sensor/speed output circuit malfunctions.
I have never seen it nor any one I know, but cane may be a first so I'm asking..

Is there not a routine or several to test the various output devices with Tuneboy. Say what you will, but the benefits of having a means to test the Rocket is immeasurable with the Tuneboy. Imagine what you'd pay someone else to give you these numbers at your command. Although it has been a challenge, at times.

wingandaprayer, I did short form for Tachometer yes I put a e instead of a but thank god you new what I was talking about:)
I took the Rocket to Cycle Barn and the speedo was working all the way there and notice when I was almost home it was not?
I just went out to turn my key and it seems to be ok all the lights come on. I'll take it back out and see if its working again.

HeR3tic, not sure why I won a lottery came in to play? But if I ever do win the lotery I'll fly you in and I'll have a big party just for you:)

H,
Tune boy doesn't really tests but runs a sensors check through Tuneboy Diagnostics. and also gives Error Codes in diagnostics.
When my MIL light went on it showed what faults the ECU (engine) had (P0223, P0505, & P0638) and with a little fussing I manage to get the light off and now all is fine.
Yes, I can imagine at $85 an hour at the shop to get the same answers and versus be able to do the adjustments myself would have cost. Me $0, discounting the initial cost of Tuneboy, shop $$$$ but their learning curve might be higher. I'm still learning.

Cane - I'm glad it is working again. Did CB work on it or did you wash it before going (# 1.)
