Hi Guys,

I'm a long time Goldwin rider that is looking to get the R3T. Haven't test rode one yet. The one thing I don't like in any bike is vibration. How much vibration do you experience on the R3T? Feedback would be appreciated.
 
only vibration you feel is when you twist the throttle, even with it in neutral, the torque lets you know its there when you twist that grip.

An inline triple, especially one displacing 2300ccs will never be as smooth as an opposed 6. My R3T is very smooth below 3200 RPMs. After that a bit of a buzz can be noticed through the grips and floorboards. It builds pretty consistently to redline.

If you really don't want any vibration in a bike, I'd suggest the Goldwing will be your best choice. Unless and until BMW puts a 6 cylinder in the LT as occasionally rumored.
 
Vibration follow up

I am sensitive to vibration and I find that there is a noticeable buzz above 3000 as previously posted.

My bike is a 2005 Rocket Classic with nearly 10,000 miles set up with foot boards. In town the vibration is not a problem, however on the freeway above 3000 rpm's it does become noticable to the point that I am thinking about trying a handle bar insert or as I have read in the past using metal shot in the handle bars....

My motorcycle experience ranges from singles to 4 cylinder models and V twins.....

Personally, I do like my rocket despite this issue and will live with it...

I think you guys are just feeling the wind buffet you. At 3000 RPM's you're going at least 80MPH aren't you. Had mine wound out a few times and never noticed a vibration till about 120 on up, and I'm pretty sure that was wind. Now you gotta take into consideration I come from a hardly background, with me being on them vibrating P.O.S. for about 33 years, so maybe thats why I can't tell its vibrating, if indeed it is. But reguardless, it feels smooth as silk to me, except that torque thang, which hardly didn't have.
 
When I purchased the Throttlemeister bar-ends, I got the large size bar-end weights and I have next to no vibration. You may try larger bar-end weights, not necessarily TM, to help settle your bars.
 
On the highway, with the speedo corrected by TuneBoy, I'm doing 70 mph at 3K rpm (50 mph at 2K rpm). Images in the rear-views are blurry. More throttle, more speed = more blur. At about 100 mph, don't even try to distinguish what you are seeing in the rear-views cause it ain't possible. The vibration is there & always has been on my Rocket at the higher speeds, or should I say the higher RRRRR's. I do believe my issue is related to the "engine" speed, not the speed of travel. Others will tell you their Rocket is smooth at any speed. Maybe a recall item on mine, not sure but it is there (the vibration that is).

Rusty, I still got them pieces of crap stock mirrors, and no blur at any speed. now true , they have VERY limited visability, but no blurring. But now that I think about it, my speedometer has vibrated since day 1. My tach is rock solid, but the speedo vibrates at idle all the way up...Hows Pennys bonnie doin'? you keeping it clean and well riden for her? take care buddy, skip
 
I have an 08 R3C and I notice a vibration in the mirrors above 3000 rpms. Nothing that heavy bar ends wont fix.
This is only my opinion.
 
Compared to my '08 Ultra Classic, the R3T is turbine smooth. First thing the wife noticed about it too - "it's smoother".

Vibration is not an issue with this bike.
