Its not a rattle, and it only happens at 1100-1200 rpm. It is a high pitched whistle I get from the motor. Actually its like a whistle mixed with a loud chirping?? It has always been there from day one, and now after 5500 miles it's still there and loud as ever. I have been bothered by it heavily ever since the "updated" tune was loaded and the motor seems to like to idle at 1100 rpms for extended periods lately.

So my question is: Anyone else noticed this same noise on their bike?

Does the sounds change if clutch is pulled or not? Could be clutch but that is more a wobbling whirring sound like a loose wheel is spinning. If clutch, then you might just need some cable adjustment or the springs inside are off torque.

I should have added it doesn't matter if it's in gear or in neutral, or if the clutch is pulled in or not. It could be an air leak type of sound as posted above. I will check for a leak, but I do remember when I first had the bear claw off, I went and checked those clamps on the air intake. Could it be a small hose thats off? Anyone know if there are hidden small vacuum tubes located around the air intake area? I hear this noise very clear while I'm sitting on the bike, but not as loud while I'm off the bike turning the throttle. It seems as if my full size windshield seems to amplify and re-direct the noise from the engine area, straight to my helmut.

Any more ideas welcome!

I am sure I know the noise you are describing and it was really prominent when I had the airbox off and was running around with a piece of screen over the intakes. I don't think it is anything to worry about. (Gee that sounds like the captain of the Titanic doesn't it?)

That is, I have heard and others have described little whistles and farts from the inlet track. No leak that I am aware of, just airway noise. I put the box all back together and have ridden it for many miles, no other problems.

JB Rye,
I got the same "chirping" sound as soon as I changed to the 3 k&N's. Mine is at any RPM when I start to accellerate. That was 14,000 miles ago when it started and nothing has come of it. I just figured it's air induction caused.
