It's actually a 72 on the side of my standard tyre.
Correct my bad.
Front Avon Cobra is model 71, Rear Avon Cobra is model 72 which can cause confusion with actual load ratings which vary for front depending on whether you get the H (Touring 16") or V (R3 and R3R 17") rated version of the Cobra front for R3s.

Avon AV71 Cobra Front Tires | 28% ($40.61) Off! - RevZilla

Did going from a 72 to 67 load rating bother you at all?
I have only ridden it twice since the type was put on. All I can say so far is that the bike feels better to ride. I went on the recommendation of numerous other people on this forum for a fair amount of time. No one has had a problem and I think everyone feels that a 140 tyre improves the bike by a wide margin. I think it is safe.

cobra seems great the only thing i notice its a little smaller which makes the bike stand up straighter when on the kickstand.
not a big deal but something to be aware of.
on the way home my cobra had a flat just as i got on my dirt road. i rode it .7 mile home a little hard to handle when the road was angled but made it home and the beads never came of the rim. put a mushroom plug in it and drove it a while but had to change because of a planed trip.
for what it is worth
some of us after a new tire has had a (for lack of a better word) tank slapper mine around 50 mph when u do not have any hands on the bars. after a new tire is mounted i always get mine up to 50 and ease mine hands off the bars to check.
my wobble happened when i put on my sun glasses:cool:

Keep in mind it's 72 based on max weight. If you never reach max gross vehicle weight well...

Hi mate, so going off the chart posted by Ishrub, am I correct in thinking that a 72 (front) can handle up to 355 kgs and 84 (rear) can handle up to 500 kgs. Making the max gross weight 855 kgs? Then I subtract all the weights ie bike, passengers, luggage etc to see how much kgs I have left before I exceed the max gross weight?

GVWR the max allowed safe weight is visible on the sticker on the frame. It’s not just straight tire rating.

The Avon 140 is a tough tire. I’ve been at the antilock activation point late braking into a turn with the back tire sliding around side to side backing in. Front never so much as flinched being tortured like that time after time.

Yep, sort of with some math, model/brand and theory twerks;):D

The usual static dry weight of 300-350Kg and max permissible load (Owners manual says 235Kg (517 lbs.) for R3 standard) = 535-585Kg all up.

The reason they are much higher than that combined, is that they have additional load on the front tyre under braking as weight transfer occurs and loads in the rear from acceleration and deceleration.

Thanks mate, with 2 people on it it leaves about 65 kgs for luggage which really is almost another person. I wouldn't carry that much luggage.

Bummer you don't live here, we could go for a ride together. Cheers
