Tyre pressures

With regard to tyre pressure versus aquaplaning ....... my logic would say that making your contact patch larger would increase your chances of aquaplaning.
I would bet that tread depth has a much bigger influence in the prevention of aquaplaning than running at a lower that recommended tyre pressure.

Logic would also suggest that the tyre that is supporting the biggest proportion of the load would require a higher pressure, but then, with the slightly added complicating factor of different tyre profiles, which the factory recommendations have already calculated/tested to take account of.

Aquaplaning is (IMO) a completely different topic. So many things come into aquaplaning. Agreed, contact patch is one of them, but so is tread depth, water depth and speed at which you hit said water. Different to this thread on tire pressures.
