TuneECU ETV table question?

The ignition tables are for gears 1, 2, 3, 4-5, 6 and N. Haven’t heard yet what gears the ETV 1-4 correspond to. I believe you’ll find that the stock ETV 1-4 are the same. So copy Penner’s etv 1 and paste it into your base etv 1-4. Save it and go on to the next Penner etv table.
 
I'm new to this, am not doing anything until I fully understand what's going on and am not in a hurry. What are the 4 ETV3 sub sections 1-4 all about?
 
I was mistaken in saying that the 4 tables for ETV3, for example, are the same in the stock maps. 4 and 3 are a bit different from 2 and 1, though 2 and 1 are the same. This suggests that the 4 tables correspond to different gears. Note that in Penner’s tunes, at least the US R tune for the earlier VINs, the 4 tables are the same in the modified ETV3.

I asked about this on the Facebook Tuneecu group and two users were pretty sure that tables 1-4 correspond to gears 1, 2, 3, and 4-6. No documentation was given.
 
The top table is the ETV3(1) table in the stock US/Canada R model, early vin stock map (31019). Across the top are the grip throttle positions. On the left is RPM. The values in the table are the actual percent openings of the throttle plates. When these are lower than the grip throttle, the throttle is “restricted”. I compared this table to ETV3(3), presumably for 3rd gear. The white dots in the right 5 or so columns in the middle of the rpm range is where the two tables differ. The bottom table shows where they are the same (light grey) and where they differ (colored). The colored values are higher than in the same area of the top table. The throttle is thus more aggressive in this grip throttle-rpm area in 3rd gear than in 1st. Hope this helps. Haha.

I'm just doing my homework now so when I get my brand new R in April I can focus on riding instead of geeking out on this stuff.
 
This would be the simplest way to derestrict sport mode. Note that when you make changes to ETV3(1) using the modify table function, it asks you if you want to apply those changes to the 2-4 tables when you hit the green check on top to accept the changes.

Note that Penner’s unrestricted maps are based on running the bike on a dyno. He did make changes to the fueling. Would you notice the difference between the simple fix and using a Penner tune? Don’t know.
 
table 1 is first gear, table two 2nd, table three third and table 4 4th, fifth and sixth as far as I have been able to determine. If I make changes it adds up to that. You guys are REAL fortunate that Ulf Penner has given for free his work to derestrict these bikes. I am in no way sledging his work, but the bike is derestricted after flashing Ulf's tune , but not tuned. The more of these I do, the more differences I find. A couple weeks before Christmas I did one with 172hp, bike completely stock . Every component, as from factory. It started with 128hp.
