I trying to find someone with a TuneBoy near Milwaukee, WI that would be willing to reprogram my ECU for a few $.

If you do, I hope you know it will still cost you $150 for the Tuneboy key to your bike.

Guess I'm confused on how the TuneBoy works then. The www.newr3.com website lists the TuneBoy for $409.99 that includes the USB TuneBoy cable, diagnostic software and one TuneEdit key. When I go to www.tuneboy.com.au website, I find the TuneBoy USB starter kit for $529.00. Which TuneBoy do I need to reprogram my ECU?

dangerous ,

they are both the same the $529 is AUD = AUSSIE DOLLARS

The newr3 is U.S.A $$$ THEY ARE IN TEXAS

You will still have to get key from newr3 after you get your
ecu ID number and e-mail it to them
then they send you key unlock code

think thats how it work

PS: You can just buy a key $150. 00 to unlock ECU and use
someone elses PROGRAM disc / usb CABLE
But they will always have to fix or unlock your bike .
BEST to buy whole thing & sell with your bike
or its pretty much useless

pps: and you might have to put program back to
stock if going in for triumph warranty work etc etc , then
after done reload tuneboy.... thats why its best to just buy
it all

hope that clears up a few things

Maybe I can help, or maybe get educated, but...the way I understand it, Tuneboy essentially is a piece of software that runs on a separate stand alone PC, and acts as a "Front End" that gives a user access to the bike's ECU. or brain/computer. The kit also includes a cable to connect the stand alone PC/laptop to the bike's ECU connection.

But, software programmers, the smart bunch that they are (I wish I was a lot nicer to the lot of them while in highschool. I guess they were OK after all  ), wrote an encryption or software lock into the software tied to the unique ECUZ # of the bike for which it is being purchased. This means that a particular seat of Tuneboy will function only with the bike ECU for which you purchased a key. The software is useless without that decoder key. You are supplied that key once your purshase is verified and you supply Tuneboy with your unique ECU number.

Others, please let me know if all I write is correct...(Percocet is trying to kick in.)

Question I have for the group...what happens if the PC crashes/harddrive dies? Will Tuneboy provide replacement key?

From what I understand once purchased the verification code is good for your bikes ecu....... ok say your laptop hard drive crashes new hard drive reload tuneboy software or download from web site as long as you have a copy of your unlock code "That's you bikes ecu personal unlock code" :D I would imagine Wayne at tuneboy would have it so if you had to you could email them. I have mine saved around my pc and backed up on cd your always good to go........I do have fun with it.

Hope things are on the mend gR3yWolf great spirit you have their

Your key will work on any computer that Tuneboy is loaded in. I loaded it in my desk top so I could study it. Then a old lap top to actually use it out in the garage. Good thing too cause when the dogs came running through caught a power cord and snatched it off the bike and on to the floor it was toast. Now I have it loaded in another old laptop. That's why there is a sticker to write the key # down on your disc jacket.
