Don't get me wrong, I don't doubt what you said at all. So it happens that I find it a bit odd that i could have spent only a hundred dollars more for a new final drive.
If that's the case I am disappointed too.

At 3,500 miles per year I don't think that any bike would have a high cost of repairs. Under average riding conditions you should have had at least 80,000 miles on it, if not more.

Before you knock someone for only riding 3,500 miles a year maybe find out how many bikes he owns. I do believe the Mexican has 4 or 5. That would bump him up to 15 to 20 thousand miles a year. I have a 3 year old Roadster that has 21,000 Klm on it, in the same 3 years I've done 300,000 Klm in my truck and 30,000 in my 4x4. Everyone has a reason for riding the miles they do, mine are 100% leisure.

In truth they used to be pretty darn expensive somewhere up where you are paying . I cannot tell you when the price dropped but it has and I heard it on one of the sites either .net or .com I cannot remember. I would be speaking to your dealer and asking them to check with Triumph because theirs might have dropped also.

I also remember some guys on the site pointing this out to someone else who was looking for one. My guess is it was not you. whenever people have problems with their bikes they usually check here especially if its a expensive one if for nothing else maybe some pointers on how to go about getting it done or where to get the cheapest parts even if its buying parts from dealers. Sorry yours is costing you so much. Make sure they lubricate the splines with molly 60 or something as good as it. Also every time you change the wheel you should pull the final drive and lubricate it. Its not hard and its only 4 nuts and one bolt after you remove the wheel.
