I am still messing around with different ECU maps, and the PCV and Auto tune.. Trying to learn and to squeeze as much as possible outta the bike... Luckily I have not blew it up in the process.

Tonight I went to the local Triumph dealer. Told them I had the 11' tourer with jardines, power commander, auto tune, and triple filters....

I am still not sure I heard this guy right...

He first of all is not a fan of the Power Commander....

Did not understand why I would put some exotic exhaust on the bike when triumph made a perfectly good set of after market pipes.

Told me that the best they had done with the touring was 94 hp....

But if I wanted to throw money away he would try and do a custom map but it would take at least 4 hours on the dyno ( $70 per hour) and he could not guarantee he would not blow out the pipes.

He asked if I had problems and I told him just a little decel popping, that I was just looking for high output numbers....

SO I guess from talking to this guy most of the rest of us are all screwed up in our thinking.

I thanked him for being honest with me... but holy hell...

He did give me a name of a guy about 50 mile from here that is suppose to be ( according to this guy) an expert with the power commander and works closely with guys running the Bonneville Salt Flats...

Soooo... time to look for another dealer...

Someone here suggested we needed more Waynes ( PowerTripp) I agree, I could use one in NY for sure...;)

Sounds like he wanted you to go his way. Maybe he should sell Victories instead, where 'custom' apparently means making them all the same.

typical answer from a dealer.
That won't work.
it runs fine just the way it is.
Duhhhh.
get a dobeck and do it yourself,
veterans discount if that applies,
and almost too easy.
Way better than a PC3 IMHO.

I agree Skip. This is precisely the reason I didn't go the PCIII or V route. Dobeck seems to give close to if not the same results for much less money and without the risk of f*cking it up or having these sorts of problems with maps etc. Of course Curt already has a PCV with AT so he may as well get that to work and it may be better once he does.

Most dealer techs can only handle stock bikes (of any brand). And now days, they don't know how to troubleshoot beyond the ECU showing a code. If there is no code, they have no clue.

They are like ants. Ants are very efficient at what they do, forming lines to carry food and materials. However, if you add an obstacle, or simply wipe your finger across their path, the whole line becomes totally lost.

Same thing with today's techs. If the bike is totally stock and they are dealing with factory parts, the tech is fine. Throw in something aftermarket and suddenly it's an unknown obstacle they can't get past.

I spoke with them again today.
Things did not get any better. His (service Manager) and the tech's suggestion was to put the stock tune back in the ECU...

I guess they just do not get it. If I wanted stock performance I would of left it the way I found it....

I thought these dyno guys wanted you to have a PC, as they did not know how to deal with anything else..... Go Figure

So the next dealer is an hours ride..... not too hopeful but keeping me fingers crossed...

That is complete incompetence and scary. Leaving my bike with the dealer always causes me concern. The amount of care we take in maintaining our bikes is worlds apart from what goes on once our Rockets are dropped off with the so called professionals.
