Trip meter and distance to empty reset
Trip meter shouldn't reset. Check your fuses - not only that they work but also that they are tight.
 
Do you use the key to shut down the bike or the red kill switch?

I was told not to ever use the kill switch unless its an emergency that it will reset the ECU. I did some experimenting buy using the kill switch and noticed that my trip to empty would reset to zero. I was also told by using the kill switch the bike needs a 12 minute tune done for optimum performance.
 
What causes it? Something BAD...it shouldn't do that...sorry I'm sure you were looking for a technical explanation but I used all my big words on a previous post
 
Found the culprit. Blown fuse that powers the Heated Grips/Auxilary Outlet ALSO controls the Display memory for Trip meter, Miles to empty, and clock.
