Transmission noise while decelerating

Intermittent no start and shuts off on highway

Phoebe is a 2008 R3 with 10,000 miles purchased exactly 1yr ago.
Intermittently she wont start again after being ridden. When it happens the gauges and gauge lights don't come on. The horn blows and headlights work, just the gauges, fuel pump and starter don't work. Does that sound like an ignition switch? If I wait, it always starts eventually ... but what a pain in the ars! It will even shut off while buzzing down the highway! The bike shuts down, the gauges cycle and she restarts (sometimes), when it takes longer than that, I actually have to pull over and wait for the gauges to cycle before I can continue. Weird huh?
I have a service apt for this, the trans noise, waterpump squeel and her 10k service next week, so I'll be sure to post what the final verdict is.

You call your bike Phoebe and you expect it not to give you any trouble, weird enough giving your bike a name but phoebe.

I call my bike a Triumph Rocket III does any one else have any weird names?
 
Yup, I agree, its the name. Try de-naming your motorcycle and it will probably start right up. If that doesn't work I guess you could have the ignition switch checked.

Oh, and I just got around to naming my 7 year old dog a couple of weeks ago. The R3T's going to have to last a lot longer than that if it wants a name.

If you ain't BS me, this is a personal safety issue.

My first GUESS is an ignition failure. GET IT CHECKED OUT NOW!

Ignition switches have been known for a variety of failure indicators. This is an extreme!


An "In Traffic" condition would be ruinous.


I'm sure you're glad for those loud pipees Honestly, I don't know that you have loud pipes and it has no bearing. Get it squared away; and, post often on the care Triumph is showing.

You call her Phoebe, and I call her the Beast. Another calls her. the "Fat Bottom Girl". I've heard her called "agricultural". I know she has the GRUNT of them all!!

Phoebe - One of the original 12 titans from Greek mythology. Ancestor of Zeus.
I'm guessin' that "book learnin" was just too painfull with all that readin' an all?
 
But you could have picked Oceanus or Tethys or Hyperion or Theia or Coeus or Cronus or Rhea or Mnemosyne or Themis or Crius or Iapetus but you picked the one with the same name as the dumb blond on Friends.

Therein lies the problem. Rightly or wrongly, your Rocket feels insulted. No wonder she won't start.
