Saturday evening no body at Bogarts to have her checked. Went to Bike Week anyway with friends. When I got there the bike started surging, stopping, and back firing through synlinder one. Found a triumph dealer ,BMW ,in Daytona. They adjusted TPS and idle motor. Cleared adaptives after only after showing them how. They complained that Tune Boy would have to be removed to diagnose the problem . Paid them $140.00 and went to crank my bike. Backfiring thru cylinder one, dealer said it must be TuneBoy just leave the dealership. I did and went the next day to the Triumph's Tent at race track. Talked to two people ,Paul and Jessie. They both said it was the TPS and Paul, being the tech guy, agreed to look at it. Paul did not like the individual KN filters. The original air filter placed pressure on the air system, but he acknoledge that a person knowing what he is doing on a dyno could work around this. When I got back home , called Triumph and the head marketing man, Peter, would not approve replacing TPS unless I put the bike to original where they could diagnos the problem. What do yall say?

I had the same ****ty attitude from my main dealers here in England.

Exact same symptoms you're getting.

They wanted me to put the bike back to standard otherwise they siad they could not diagnose the problem.

Using wisdom from this forum I insisted that they replace the primary TPS, and guess what - problem solved, and stayed solved.

My bike was way out of warranty, but they were so embarrassed they did not charge me any labour, and only trade price for the TPS.

If your bike is still under warranty - offer them a wager.

They replace the primary TPS, and if the problem still exists - you will pay for it. If it cures it - they pay through the warranty system.

If leaking thru cylinder 1 CHECK the fuel rail isn't loose at the frount.. Mates bike had that when the Triumph tecs didn't put it back properly after a rebuild. the rail flapped like a loose elbow when the bike was running.

Mr. Rabit
for dyno tune, Wayne Tripp. The man is top-notch, he speaks 'tuneboy' and 15 other softwear languages. He's east of Birmingham Al. via Hwy 280. www.power-tripp.com
Backfire... mine was under the gas tank, vacumn hose loose. I purchased my 07 Classic Touring from Bogarts, they did my early maintance, and the repairs when my output bearing/shaft went south. No problems with their work, good folks. But, the dealer who has busted their knuckles to deal with my TPS and other related problems is Decatur Allsport, north of Birmingham, 1.5 hour drive. Decatur Allsport has become like family. I like them so much I've been thinking about sweeping their parking lot in the middle of the night while they sleep.
Drop me a line if you like, (rblaket@yahoo.com) your troubles and mine are simular, I'm just a little further along in the fix. Maybe I can save you some time and worry. No one enjoys having these bike issues but for the joy I get from this one bike, more over 5 Honda's, 3 Harleys, 1 Yama, 2 Suzk, 1 CanAm...it's worth it.
