that is a good summary; lest we forget the roadster is cheaper!!

The way i see it the Touring is better for long trips; if you not going to be doing much across the country riding but more in town- roadster all day. It is a more upright riding position so you do want to take that into consideration if you have lower back issues
 
Someone suggested that the Roadster handles better. I don't agree, but YMMV.

I like the Touring best because in my view, the Touring is the best of all baggers. So when I want to ride a bagger, like when my wife wants a ride, or when I've got stuff to haul around, nothing beats the Touring.

When I want to go like a bat outta hell, in my view, the Roadster is not king of the genre. My preference is for the ZX14R or Hayabusa.

They are both HUNDREDS of pounds lighter, and ultimately get more power to the rear wheel. And both are cheaper too.

If you want the Roadster, a very heavy straight line specialist driven by a very powerful triple, nothing else will do.

But anyone who tells you that a bike this heavy is for serious sport riding, they're pulling your leg. Not even Triumph pushes this idea. Everything about the Rockets is about the engine. There is nothing wrong with that.
 
I truly love my Roadster for exactly what it is. I always ride solo and removed the rear seat which I think makes it look much better. I have a Ramair and TORS that will be installed when the weather gets better and then I'll contact Hanso for his magic...

The stock Roadster should satisfy the need for power and acceleration of the vast majority of riders and they can get significantly enhanced performance through Carpenter or Neville among others. But for me, when the need for incredible performance (and handling) overcomes my sanity, I jump on my ZX-14R.
 
If you don't like the heel shifter, unfortunately it easy enough and just stick with the toe. I think if you ride as much as you say, you will come to enjoy the floor boards on the R3T. By the time you add everything to an R3R that you want, you may be spending more than a R3T

I can certainly turn my Roadster into a Touring, but nothing will turn the Touring into a Roadster. With detachable bags and windscreen, I can have a Touring in 20 minutes, and another 20 to go back to a Roadster. Can't beat that.
 
A Roadster with detachable bags and windscreen is just that not a Touring , they always look a little "unfinished"to me as if Triumph forgot something ,where the Touring IMHO is the complete article, and if you take the windscreen of the Touring (a 20 second job) it transforms the whole look of the bike , a great looking bike either way
 
The problem I have with floorboards is that I grew up in the dirt, so I'm used to riding with my feet on the pegs, ready to dodge some asshat in a cage. Unless I'm on a longer ride, then I lean back and prop them up on the highway pegs.
I LOVE this back and forth though pointing stuff out, Keep it coming....I'm not looking for a Busa or an R-1 or anything. I like playing in the twisties, but I'm not looking for a ****** rocket....Just a Rocket! I am definitely getting a Rocket, no doubts, just trying to figure which way to go. I like the idea of riding both as I can see the riding position being a good deciding point.
