Thanks again for all the help, fellas. That was easier than I thought. I don't know if any of you guys do this but I got in the habit years a ago of peeling the oil filter sticker off and sticking it under the saddlebag lid and writing the mileage on it. I just peel it off when it's time, give it to the man behind the counter and tell him I want one of those and replace it with the new sticker and mileage when I get home. Kinda simple but it saves me looking up filter numbers and I see the mileage every time I open my saddlebag lid.
Just changed the oil in the old girl and it turned into a mess so I'm throwing this out in case someone else decides to make a bonehead move like I did....you have been warned! I usually use the Mobil 1 filter #M1-110 which is a longer filter than stock and works great. They were out at my parts house so I had them cross it over to the Wix equivalent (51356). Without looking at it twice I installed it on the scooter and fired her up for a warm up and immediately had a nice puddle of oil forming under the front of the bike. After removing said filter, THEN I decide to look at the difference in them. Anyone else see it?
Wix filter 51356 shows to be a replacement for M1-110 in the crossover book but it bottoms out against the filter thread plug before the rubber seal can press against the block properly.
I have used the filter specific to the Mazda RX7 before and it worked fine, not one leak , only thing was because it was slightly larger my chrome filter cover didnt fit, but good if you have no option of OEM filter
I went back to town and got the Mobil 1 M1-110. Chrome cover fits snug but you can see a little of the black paint on the filter since it is longer but not really noticeable. That's a good list you have compiled. I used to work on mobile equipment at my plant site and was surprised how many of the same filters fit different makes.
