Hi Folks,
I've just been given a double helmet givi topbox which I think I can adapt to fit using the three mounting bolts that secure the rear pillion pad.
Has anyone done this? If so can you point me to a thread.

I'm thinking of using the rear pillion pad base but this will mean destroying the pillion pad.

Any thoughts/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you wing,
I've looked at the bracket a bit closer today, it looks like the bracket is curved to match to match the plastic base of the pillion pad. Did you bend the bracket slightly to give a flat mounting surface, or did you space it out with washers?
I plan to fabricate a plate to bolt to the pad bracket which in turn is bolted to the givi base plate so I can easily remove the top box (It's one of those monokey designs, unlocks and detaches in one go).
I don't really want to destroy the pillion seat I have so I guess I should post a request on the classifieds for another. I'll look for your pictures on the other site.
cheers

Biz, unless you are trying to make the bike mainly solo, you can get a universal mounting plate and attach it to the lugage rack if you have one. I did it to my 06 and when I use it I just remove the back rest and mount it on the rack with a rubber spacer to protect the chrome. I use Hepco and Becker removable hard luggage but the theroy is the same for the GVI types. Also if you have a Roadster you should look at the bags Ogre has on his. They look like they were made for the bike.

here is a picture of how mine looked with all the bags on her.

Thanks guys,
Warp 9.9 your bike looks well set up for two-up touring but I'm single at the moment (hence using the pillion pad bracket) and plan to stay that way for a little while....

Wing - I thought that's what you might have done, will post some pics once I get it all together - but may take a while.
cheers

Ok Biz but if all of a sudden some single sparsley dressed gal with large upgrades needs a ride your out. More important is the extra amount of Beer one can carry on the pillon seat.

I am not single but 98% of the time I ride single

Hi Guys,
yesterday got my hands on a spare pillion pad for 20 quid, ready to cut up for the project. Got a bid in on e-bay for a givi baseplate for 12 quid.
I'm pretty sure I can I can fabricate a pillion to givi interface plate with a lump of Ally plate I have to hand, will create a new post when it all comes to fruition.
Ogre, nice to see something like that for a solo rider, but I want a lockable topbox.
Warp, women with ginormous norks are my thing but sadly men with ginormous norks, like me, (I think the USA term is man tits) are not their's...!
I do remember years ago going to a bike show (Kent custom circa 1987?) the only reason for me to go was to carry the beer in an ex-army rucksack larger than me on the back of a cb900, no-one else could carry it! Of course I was knacked when we got there but the journey home was ok as it was a bit lighter...
Can't remember much else about that weekend, certainly a coming of age.
take it easy,
Biz
