This should be simple, headlights don't work

WHILE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO WORK ON THE ELECTRIC (sorry caps) system ask them if they have the power probe or similar and if the answer is no keep on looking.
The early models had a problem with the head lights taking out the ign switch some used the eastern beaver kit so that would not happen.
u might ohm that headlight ground to engine/neg bat.
also check volts while headlight is plugged in the volts may drop to very low volts.

good idea to replace it
its getting voltage through to lights but maybe the points burned up not letting current flow.
 
Oh hey tdragger! Good to "see" ya! Yea, I'm still here, hangin on. You know you only hear from me when I have a problem- I guess I've been pretty lucky that way...
maybe that relay was stuck... but here is the end of this story: I was putting everything back to together, resigned to ride on fog lights until I could find a good place to land for service. It hasn't been that long since the service it had, 500 miles? but I thought, before I put the seat back on, I'll take off the negative batt terminal and see if something was hiding under the contact- it wasn't loose, wasn't dirty, connection and cable looked OK, wiped it off, thin smear of dielectric grease and back on it went, turned ignition to make sure all the other stuff still worked and - you guessed it- let there be LIGHT! Woowho! Guess I need to pull out my old copy of Zen And The Art for a reread. Problem solved, nothing to see here, folks!
 
I have the Eastern Beaver headlight relay kit. I've had it for about 8 years or so. I was just dealing with the starter click and finally realized it was a bad relay. I had an 80A relay in there from when I was doing the Toyota starter upgrade with direct power. I had an extra 20A relay in my garage and put that in. TaDa! The bike started. I haven't ridden at night since then and just realized this week when my wife and I went for a ride that I didn't have headlights. I'd started the bike to warm up and realized I had no lights when I went to get on It. I have 12VDC at both of the EB relays. I saw the comment about the starter relay and saw greenbaron's final solution.

I'm going to try a different relay and cleaning the battery, disconnecting and reconnecting everything at the battery. I'll report back if that works or if I need other ideas.
 
So, no joy on the relay reset or the battery. Still no headlights. However, I now know something new. The high beam light on the gauge does not come on whether or not the high beam switch is on. This was with the bike running. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! @TURBO200R4 ?
 
I do not know how your eastern beaver is wired.
On oridginal relay to work the lights it takes a 5 prong relay installing a 4 prong relay the lights would not work.

I have my lights on a switch one day i forgot to turn off switch the light were really weired i found the ground terminal was cooked on one of the lights but it still worked on one of the the settings

I really appreciate it! It's 2-wire fused lead from the battery to the first relay, jumped from there to the second relay. I have 12VDC at both 4-prong relays. There is a yellow wire and a white wire, one to each of the relays, that comes from the wire harness. It looks like they are blue/red-stripe and blue/yellow-stripe coming off the wire harness. The other wires go from each relay to each headlight. I will take a couple pictures and post them as the next comment. I really appreciate the help! I'm supposed to ride escort for a military funeral a week from Monday, so I have until then to get it straightened out.
