The Polish rebuild

you have to register it
make sure that the rocket ignition is on run b4 trying to connect tuneecu

Update on the tuneEcu - current version wants to connect only via Bluetooth. Bought a cheapo expanded rice adapter and turned out I have a 20222 map. Dunno - bike rides ok and plenty of power.

The radiator is fixed and finally today I made first short trip around my usual testing area - just 42ks but it was wet and really slippery. God I really wish I had abs in this bike.

The original ME888 tires are 5 years old and they are proper crap in the wet even though there is plenty of thread Absolutely not fit for riding and braking will raise hair on your neck.
The rear locks soooooo easily and the front I really don’t touch much as I almost lost front two times already on braking this beast. Downright scary.

So - what tires. Me888 new will probably dont be much better. There is still options of Metzeler Cruisetec - Will this be any better? Any other good wet tyre recommendations???

As I see riding the rocket now it requires a LOT of forward planning and with brakes that venomous and no ABS there is absolutely no room for error. I just don’t trust this machine at the moment. It cruises nicely and is quite comfortable even with these ridiculous forward pegs. Not confidence inspiring though in the least.

Only thing I can think of to say is, you'll probably get used to the forward controls. I never had a bike with them, but I'm used to them now. I don't ride in the wet ,so no help there. Maybe practice locking the front a bit on straights with nobody around to get used to how much brake locks it? I don't like the idea of locking the front anywhere though really.

Forward controls IMVHO give you less confidence and in fact less control over any bike - this is an opposite to an active riding position as in sports or enduro bikes.
Again, in my opinion, and based on my experience over the years, they have no place on a bike so powerful and in fact pretty good handling as the Rocket.
In this case this is the bike that needs to adjust to myself.

Wet riding is something I am never a great fan of but sometimes you just have to. Front brake is really good on the Rocket and while this is a life saver when hot and sunny it surely is a heart stopper when on a shxxty tire and in the wet. Saying this I am not happy in the wet on my 1100RT either and my harley is also not the best one.
My Tenere on new Pirelli Scorpions however is a great handling bike in wet conditions - surely, ABS adds the additional, most welcome, safety envelope.

I locked the front on the Rocket three times for the practice reasons. It goes EASY :/ too easy which IS scary. Will start with tires. Maybe will fit some soft organic pads to front to give them more modulation and less bite.

There used to be a company (Raask) that made adjustable controls for the Rockets. I think they were a German company.

Swedish company - seen their product and will most probably come up with something of my own. Being a cheap bast3rd.
MOT day today.
Having arrived at the station I was shocked to discover a very nasty FD breather oil leak. How come?
I made an absorption rope :) from a piece of toilet paper and continued home where I drained oil immediately.
I am not sure if 80ml dripped out. Black stuff.

I am beginning to dismantle the bike today. Question - is it safe to lift it on the sump - provided I can support it on a piece of thick plywood to have the weight distributed evenly.
I need to take off both wheels, forks, swingarm, FD.
There is no frame rails down there obviously but I think the sump should take the load ok. What is the common consensus?

I supported my gen. 2 under the sump. NP. There's a FD thread somewhere with pics. I used a full size floor jack with a towel on the dish to support and remove the FD. Lube the splines....is another thread . To take off front wheel I just jacked it further forward

reasons for leaking out the breather
wrong fluid
water in gear oil
to much fluid check by removing the fill plug to see how much comes out.
BEWARE the drain plug is very small and has a hole in the middle for a magnet a lot of guys have broken this bolt with half the threads in the fd
