The great "Harleys aren't worth that much anymore" observation

I don't have a problem with Harleys...I own two. My Ultra is primarily a V Twin powered touring seat that my wife loves, and my Breakout is just a blast to ride. HD dealers...whole nother issue...I would crawl on my belly naked through a mile of broken glass before I would take either of them to a dealer. Those a$$ hats have seen the last of my dollars.

whoops! need another beer. most of the HD dealers are beyond arrogant for sure, and its no wonder. for 15 years guys have lined up clear out the door to literally stuff mountains of money down their throats!!

Harleys reliability is one thing..... I mean if you take care of it ...... take a box of tools with you everywhere you go then you should be fine. What I have a hard time with is the Harley riders personality ..... they always think they are ten times better than you because they ride a Harley. When all they do is dress up like a pirates, go gas station to gas station and bar hop.

I believe that on the Rebels recent trip to Perth (800 Harleys covering several thousand kms in just a few days) the main problem with the bikes was keeping the V-Rods fueled. They did have support vehicles but I'm told the bikes, by and large, made the trip pretty well.

Can't tar them all with the same brush mate.
On a recent ride out in the middle of nowhere Vivs bike broke down. A suspension part.
Out of all the bikes and cars that past us only one guy stopped and asked if all was ok..
And yep he was astride a Harley..
Fcukwits ride all types of bikes
Maybe some brands more than others :)

I think if a harley owner keeps his/her motor stock the bikes will cruise forever, the newer 96 c.i. with the billet cam plate anyhow. personally I find the experience rather lame. The stereo helps but, the bike really needs a flat screen & nintendo to keep me awake riding it.

I spend a fair amount of time astride one or the other of my bikes. Not sure about the long term reliability of the HD's but I will tell you that I picked up the Ultra brand new from the dealer at the end of February and it has 18k miles on it...so far no issues other than tires

Really don't get the Harley bashing that seems common among some Owners on here .. i'ts not as if it's Harley riders that are reading the posts .. like Bubz said there are f#ckwits riding all sorts of bikes .

Anyone belong to any of the numerous HD Forums ?? .. do they run down Triumphs and the blokes that ride them ?? .. just wondering.

Beats me too. A Harley is a Harley and it's a fine machine for what it is. Sure they're over priced, underpowered and everywhere. So what? It's not a Rocket, it's not a Hyabusa or a V-Max or a Ducati. It's not trying to be; it doesn't have a 2300cc engine and it's not designed to go flying round a race track. I know plenty of top blokes who ride them and I know a few total f#chwits who ride Rockets. I said this when those stupid "zero pork" t-shirts were floating around - I love my Rocket because it's a Rocket, not because it's not a Harley. I have a dig at all sorts of riders TO THEIR FACE but it's always good natured and a bit of fun. Having a go at someone who's wearing pirate gab and trying to buy someone else's lifestyle is one thing but having such a huge chip on your shoulder about the bikes themselves isn't a good look.

On the other hand, Goldwings and scooters and the people who ride them are fair game. ;) And before someone jumps on that, IT'S A JOKE.

I put up a profile on one of the sites for my wife's Sportster 883 superlow, they seem to REALLY HATE Hondas. But so far with all my Harley friends, co-riders and Harley riders I have met at tours and show and shines, they all seem to love the Rocket and the Triumph brand in whole. They seem to really respect the history of the brand, and some of the older ones feel a connection with the brand being down and out, and coming back with beautiful bikes, they have gone through it with their brand too. I get ALOT of older Harley riders who have told me they had Bonnevilles in their youth and loved them dearly. I still tease them a little out of good fun, I am jealous that they have SOOOOO many after market parts and accessories to customize their bikes personally. So, I haven't seen them trash Triumphs, but they absolutely HATE Japanese bikes.....must be a pre-requisite to own a HD lol.
