First, I did not see this specific topic in the forums?? I hope I am not being redundant, but, Help!!

I spoke to my dealer today and he said Triumph does not endorse stock mufflers with the cat bypass. I asked him if he would do the work and if I still would have my warranty covered, he said yes to both. That's good...

However, does anybody have any recommendations that would be in the same line of expense (different pipe config) and any comments on the sound of this setup? I have listened to the sound file, it sounds good but could someone give any better definition of the sound itself in comparison to the standard stock system??

In advance, thanks.

Oh yeah, my dealer said someone was in a while ago and had a turbo installed on there rocket.... the need for speed...!!!!!!!!! Now that is a rocketman...

My dealer also offered up the cat bypass into the stock mufflers..that they had the program to do so..that I could expect up to 15 hp boost..I'm still holding out for awhile to find who is cranking out the most hp without problems...I like a balsy sound but not obnoxious..plus I would hate to lose the "grand prix" type of sound when downshifting and holding the rpm's high in the power range...it's downright spooky....

Thanks Rapideo

Interesting. Did you still have to change the tune with TOR's and cat box?? That might be another option. How much different is the sound, in comparison??

Thanks.

I love my Jardines, But
If I had to do it again, I would probably try the drilled out stock mufflers I ran for a bit and a cat bypass, The Jardines are LOUD and I actually get a wow is that a V-6/V8 when I fire it up, but sometimes I feel they are too loud, I have to wear earplugs undr my helmet or it hurts my ears

I'm running stock pipes and no cat.

Sound is just right to my ears - louder than stock but not loud enough to upset the neighbours. Seat of the pants testing suggests a little more power, but what's more noticeable is the quicker throttle response - a definite plus.

Hi all, again thanks for the replies...I wanted to give you an update!

It was 75 degrees F yesterday (in Iowa) so played hookie and had to stop off at the local Triumph Dealer. There was a black RIII with a side car. That was way cool. I didn't talk to the owner, he had already left. But I did get some pix.

Anyway, the dealer had the silencer upgrade (cat bypass) in stock and after some negotiations they pulled the bike in and installed with the stock mufflers. They also changed the tune to 20055. Took less that an hour to install.

The sound is a little louder than stock, I think just right. I have not noticed any decel popping, but the pipes are a little louder so you hear more, not noticeable.

From the seat the throttle is more responsive and gets there quicker, that's a good thing.

The dealer mentioned that I should get better fuel ecomomy? I currently get 36 mpg +\- in town (150 miles on 4 gallons), so I will monitor and update if I see an increase or decrease in fuel useage.

That's all at this time...be safe/ride safe!!
